2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bomber, Batch 1, Bottle #63 of 213, bottled on 02/04/2010 and consumed in August 2010. Pours a clear, dark, bronze-caramel color with a small, foamy blanket of tan froth at the head. A sudsy wash breaks apart and dried to jagged splotches and spotted lines of lacing on the glass. The nose is just a mess, showing notes of overly spiced gingerbread, overripe pumpkin, stale, grainy bread, and loads of bitter coriander. Hints of sharp, minty spruce tips make for an even bigger clash. Itís almost as though they gathered up every "winter" ingredient they could find and just threw it all together haphazardly. Flavors are no better, again showing very muddled and stale. Cardboard-like bread grain and spent caramel malt, sharp ginger, and biting coriander are all prominent, in a very bad way. Sweet fruitcake fights with bitter conifer hops and aggressive, dark spicing. The palate is thin and alcoholic, overly carbonated, and papery on the finish. Awful brew. Not as awful as some of their other beers, but still pretty damn bad.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Batch 1 2/4/2010 sampled 4/1/2010
Itís sixty-five degrees out on the first day of April. What the hell I think Iíll open a winter warmer.
Pours a fairly clear deep orange/mahogany color with a thinnish off white head that quickly dissipates but leaves a little lace on the way down.
Aroma is heavy on the spices. I imagine nutmeg and allspice. Some caramel and prunes in there but buried deep underneath the spices.
Taste is spicy slightly bready up front. I get a blast of tart lemons or maybe a hop bite on my tongue but that fades quickly. Sweet with fruit and a hint of toffee. Slight phenolic mid way through finishing rather dry with a long lingering pumpkin pie flavor. I found the body to be a bit thin carbonation medium to low.
I didnít enjoy this one at first, but through the coarse of the bottle it did grow on me. I would have loved a bit more body and maybe a little less subtlety in the flavors. But then again my palette is used to being assaulted with Double IPAís and Imperial Stouts. The bottle says 10.4% I canít find that anywhere! Decent brew!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to rpstevens for this extra given at KTG last year. Let it sit until this winter, which worked out quite well. Bottle 212 or 213 - February 4, 2010. Served in a snifter on Christmas Day 2010.
Pours a nice, bright reddish-brown color with a good white head and a bit of streaky lacing. The nose is quite spicy with a good malt base. Lots of cinnamon. Nutmeg and allspice there as well. All of the spicing blends quite well even though itís quite strong overall.
The taste is sweet and spicy with a bit of cherry and some strawberry seeds. Slightly-dry finish on a medium body. I was really shocked at the ABV on this one, as it was not detectable at all. Probably the best White Birch beer that Iíve had to date. Quite impressive, especially as I often donít really care for winter warmers.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at a recent BA/RB tasting. Colour... amber with no head. Nose... Hi-C fruit punch and holiday spice. Palate... up front itís bright, tight, frothy and redolent of allspice, nutmeg and clove, then suddenly itís gone! Fun while it lasted!

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
It pours amber with a small off white head. The aroma is bland spicy, like a typical winter spice base. The flavor is amber malts with some spicy, almost cinnamon and cloves. The body is a bit too light, better than normal for White Birch though.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bomber from a trade... I think from JBlauvs but I could be mistaken. Thanks to whomever it was! Bottle 170 of 213, bottled 2/4/10. Pours a clear reddish color with a medium tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Very spicy aroma with some cherries, other fruity notes and a metallic note. The taste is spices, caramel, faint cherry like fruits, something slightly vegetal, leafy hops. The spices overpower everything else. Thin bodied, which is odd for a 10% beer. This one seems like it may have a hint of infection but mostly its just not a very good beer.

1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Thanks to Beerlando for this horrible beer. Pours a muddled brown color. Aroma of pumpin pie spices, wet dog and cardboard. The fall spices are most noticable. Flavor is lingering cardboard and brown sugar with few of the spices coming through. Flavors are bland and dull and Iím glad for it.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sampled from the bottle at the 2010 March Metro Detroit tasting. Poured a slightly cloudy yellowish amber with an off-white head. Aroma was full of sweet grains with a slight undertone of spice. Flavor was a bit weak with a sweet grain note and just a hint of spice.
