Cask at the Maypole, Cambridge. Pours charcoal black with a steady, light cream cap. Good roasted malt aromd, some darkly toasted bread, dark sugars. Light to medium sweet flavor with balanced roast, light charred wood, burnt sugars, burnt marshmallows, faint raisins. Medium bidied with fine carbonation. Great condition. Moderate bitterness to finish, some scorched earth and burnt wood, well roasted malts, dark sugars. Great stuff.

Cask@Market Porter, London. Ambery brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, choclste and mild ashy notes. Flavour is chocolate, roasted malts, some ashes, mild toffee as well. Mild sweet liquorice notes in the finish.

Cask - The White Lion, Norwich. Small but lasting beige to light tan head on a deep, opaque brown/black body. Coffee and roasted malt aromas. Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee flavour profile with some hints of yeast, particularly on the tongue. Medium body, soft palate texture, lingering bitterness and a fruity roastiness. A nice, richly balanced and deep porter with good sweet/bitter malt balance.

Clear dark brown black colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, light coffee. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, toffee, smoke - tar, roasted, licorice. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20101203]

Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 4 on 2 December 2010. Ruby/brown colour. Some fruit and chocolate. Very dry finish. Well made and nicely drinkable. Maybe a little short of depth in the aroma but pretty enjoyable.

21st January 2011 On tap in the Magpie, New Street. Clear dark red-brown beer. Nice tan head. Light and semi dry palate. Slightly toasted dark malt - pretty smooth though. Mild minerals. Trace of cream and coffee. Some hop bitterness in the smooth finish. Drinkable and decent without ever threatening to be exciting.
