Bottled 500ml, pasteurised, from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Orange gold with slight white head. Thin and somewhat tinny, harsh beer with a sharp grainy malt, cooked notes from the boil. Later there is a fruity, citric hop coming through, but it’s a difficult beer to love.

[500ml bottle, Morrison’s Edinburgh] Dragon Hill pours highly carbonated but almost totally loses the head and sits there looking like a glass of orangeade. The aroma is mild hops and a touch of sweetness. On the palate the predominance is a gentle mix of malt and hop, with neither really coming to the fore nor offering up a decent flavour hit. A slightly disconcerting metallic tang follows on the aftertaste, which thankfully recedes pretty quickly. It’s all a bit too thin and wishy-washy, unfortunately – maybe a bit to sessionable for the bottle. [29072009]

Bottled. A copper coloured beer which pours with no head. The aroma is on the sweet side with some fruit and maybe a hint of honey. There is obvious pasteurisation on the nose. The taste is more of the same. Fruity and slightly sweet. A hint of caramel. Drinkable enough but ordinary.

Bottle from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Near Wantage, Oxon. Consumed 28-05-09 Pours orangey/golden with a white head from a clear bottle! (when will they learn) Some light orange blossom on the nose but also sweetness in fact boiled sweets. Taste is a touch sweet but not too bad, tangy, some bitterness left coating the gums, bit fruity and malty. Its fine but with White Horse like many UK beers there is absolutely no comparison between the quality of Cask and Bottle so I shall seek out in cask and would imagine that this rating will soar at some point. Bottle, from Morrisons, Grimsby. Deep gold, thin white head and gentle condition. Slight fruity malt and grassy herbal hops in the nose, slightly metallic in the mouth with a touch of berry fruitiness developing but quite dry and thin, lingering flowery sweetness in the finish with some delicate chalky hop bitterness.
