As local folklore has, it the Blacksmith Wayland Smithy had an apprentice named Flibbertigibbet. Now Flibberti was a simple character and whilst on his travels for supplies he was waylaid egg collecting, which led to his early demise. Fortunately for you our brewer was not waylaid and put all of his time, effort and ingredients into making this beer. A dark golden coloured beer, with a flurry of English hops that leaves you with an aromatic aftertaste.

Cask Conditioned Handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. A golden beer with a white head. A bit of grassy hop leads to a pleasant enough citrussy hop taste. A bit shallow and very English. Drinkable enough and there are some good orangey hop flavours.

Cask (gravity) - Norwich Beer Festival 2010. Regenerative foamy off-white head, light amber body. Good pale malt sweetness going on in both aroma & taste, let down a bit by some veggy notes on the nose. Toasted malt & some caramel flavours with an OK length to the grassy, almost herbal bitter finish. Soft mouthfeel, light body - not bad but a few unappealing notes here & there.

One of the last couple of White Horse beers I hadn’t tried, this one has been alluding me for ages. Finally got to try it at the Oxford Beer Festival, way back three or four months ago now, and finally getting the notes entered now.

Copper, a few wisps of white soapy head. Light orange and warm bee pollen nose. Light lemon hop flavor, touch of resin. Orangy sort of sweetness. Pleasant, but at least based on this serving, not one of WH’s more interesting beers.
