Cask handpull at Crosse Keys Spoons. Last beer of the day. Hurrah. I never want to see a beer ever again. 23 beers in one day is just too manyDeep ruby chestnut colour no head. Its an odd beer to produce. Not much like this around these days. A fresh green nutty malty beer. Typucally aenglish. In the burp it reminds me of something and I cant tell what. Alcohol is well hidden. Its got complex and interestung malts. Not great condition then again it is the Crosse Keys. Really interesting beer with some fruit nut choc and hedgerow. Like to have this again

Cask conditioned at The White Horse at Banbury Cross, Banbury. Chestnut with slight head. Malty, grainy bitter, some sweetness, some fruitiness but a bit underpowered for the ABV. Average.

Spoons festival ale which is strong and full-bodied, but is lacking in flavour.

Hamilton Hall Spoons. Hazy brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Nice! Malty - a little dark in character. Trace of coffee. Mild red fruits underneath. Trace of orange hop with a little bitterness as well. Finishes semi dry with mild bitter linger. Good stuff!

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Chestnut with a tight, dense, beige head; aroma of chocoalte malt; an intersting blend of flavours, chocolate malts, autumn hedgerow fruits and sour dough; then a dry finish, with well hidden alcohol. An excellent strong ale.

Cask conditioned Handpump Last Plantaganet Leicester. A chestnut coloured beer with a thick white head. A weird beer with sweet alcohol flavours but a short finish. Candied peel. Possibly shallowing but quite plain. Maybe a touch of vinegar in nose.

Cask at the Webb Ellis (JDW, Twickenham). Pours dark brown with reddish hints and a small fine lasting head, old wine aromas, rich body with toffee, fruitcake, some tart fruit, and roast nuts, and bitter mocha in the finish. A good strong ale.

Gravity cask cellar run at the Moon & Sixpence (JDW) Hatch End. Chestnut with a loose bubbled off white head. Poor carbonation. Caramel, dried fruit and dusty hops. This was my last required beer of the 2011 Autumn festival and a bit of a disappointment frankly.

Leighton (6945) - London, ENGLAND - OCT 19, 2011
Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours a dark, amber-ruby with a foamy, off-white head. Bit of toast, caramel and ripe fruits in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, tangy fruits, sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky sweet finish, tangy fruits and malts, toast and faint roast. Not bad.

Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Ruby red, brown with a thin head. Aromas are molasses with chocolate and red wine. Plummy with bready yeast and raisins. Earthy with marzipan and spices. Flavours are sweet raisins and berries with soft yeast and chocolate. Vinous with Xmas pudding and a nutty, dry finish. Good stuff.
