MesandSim (4998), London, Greater London, England Feb 15, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at the Turf Tavern, Oxford during the RB pub crawl. Nice gold colour with a decent white head and pretty good condition. Straight forward dusty and citric hoppage with some soapy notes and a pleasing bitter and floral finish. Quite tasty.
SilkTork (4048), Rochester, Kent, England Feb 17, 2008 Turf Tavern Soapy. Citric. Blurry. Not good. Perhaps not quite in shape. maeib (4418), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Feb 14, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - Turf Tavern Oxford. A light gold coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma has hops and some soapiness. THe hops are citric and sweet. The taste is nice and flowery hoppiness. A nice tasty beer. harrisoni (6125), Ashford, Kent, England Feb 11, 2008 Cask handpull, Turf Tavern, Oxford, RB Pub crawl 08. Pale gold with lasting white head. Typical citrus grapefruit. Very good condition. Better than average gold/blond ale and really my kinda beer. hughie (2735), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Feb 10, 2008 Cask at Turf Tavern, Oxford, on Ratebeer Oxford Day ’08. SilkTork asked them if this was a rebadge of another White Horse Beer and was told it wasn’t. I wondered whether it might be Village Idiot, another 4.1% golden ale, however I’m fairly certain it isn’t, as it’s less bitter. Soapy hop aroma, sweet taste and quite low bitterness. Not bad. Fin (2980), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Feb 10, 2008 Cask conditioned at Turf Tavern, Oxford on the Ratebeerian day around Oxford 09-02-08 Poured light-mid golden with slim white head, sweet flurry comes through first of all, quite fresh tasting but the bitterness clings along with some honey, nice good looking clear beer with hoppy nose. Doppelganger (1338), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 5, 2008 Cask at...well, not surprisingly, the Turf Tavern. Pale gold, sticky just off-white head. Orange and menthol aroma, touch of mint. Soft minty bitterness, light body, some pineapple esters. Solid but also not one of White Horse’s best. I also feel like I’ve had this in better shape than it was at this particular serving. A nice toasty quality that is sometimes present seems strangely absent. imdownthepub (4731), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Dec 28, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Yellow gold with white head. Easy lemony, citrusy pale ale. Bright grapefruit type flavour with a bittersweet finish. Nice easy drinking without getting too exciting. Reasonable beer.
