This special brew of this beer, for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival, commemorates these noble animals. It is a strong, robust, dark beer, with full, malty, caramel flavours and a toffee aftertaste, giving a sweet finish on the palate. Hops used: Jade, Pacific

Cask @ JDW, Victoria Station. The pour’s deep amber brown with a tiny off-white head. The nose is roasted grain, chocolate malts, some coffee. The taste is sweet coffee creamer, some butter, more chocolate and roasted wood. Toffee, mild berry on the finish. The body’s a bit thin and watery. Overall, fairly decent.
