COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
WLP380 Hefeweizen IV Ale Yeast
Large clove and phenolic aroma and flavor, with minimal banana. Refreshing citrus and apricot notes. Crisp, drinkable hefeweizen. Less flocculent than WLP300, and sulfur production is higher.

Bitterness and gravity vary batch to batch.

On tap at brewery. Clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Clean somewhat floral banana, vanilla, and caramel aroma and taste with a clove and bread finish. Nice.

Golden pour with a big white head. Huge banana, clove, and bubblegum. Nice sweet bread, dough, and mild orange/citrus notes. Nice yeast and a hint of vanilla. There’s a strong banana flavor and quite a bit of clove, too. Notes of bubblegum, sweet, doughy bread, and light vanilla. Wheat, orange peel, and yeast on the finish.

On tap. The only winner in the Hefe flight. That said, this is an extremely solid beer (not only compared to the others, but to Hefes in general). Pours with a hazed, medium yellow hued body and a small white head. Aromas are great. Ripe banana, medium isoamyl acetate, lots of vanilla, grainy, light mint, light clove, awesome balance of ester and phenols. Flavors show light bubblegum, medium malt, low bitternes, nice isoamyl acetate, but relatively clean otherwise. A touch of fruit, medium 4VG, good carbonation, and a silky mouthfeel. The best of the flight by a WIDE margin! I would brew a Hefe with this yeast purely based off this 4oz sample.
