Flaska från Beergium. An amber very cloudy saison with a small head. Lots of green herbs, fresh cut flowers, saison yeast and earthy notes. Not as crisp as my favorite saisons but with nice green earthy herbal spicy taste of fresh slithly bitter lettuce, green tomatoes, green pepper, flowers (think chewing on the green part of a tulip), yeast. A lingering sweetness and a small bitterness that keeps the balance ok. An earthy, herbal tasty sison that I really enjoyed.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2014 33cl @ brewpub ’t Gaverhopke. Pale blond-orange with a big soft foam. Aroma shows a sort of complexity with flowers, spices, herbal hops, earthy, saaz. Body is medium and extremely soft. Taste is: flowers, herbal hops, malts, unmalted cereals (wheat and oat?), complex spicy hints. Balanced well. Sure not a classic saison, but a very good brew.

Hazy orange body white fluffy head. Aroma has vegetables and grainy malts. Spices but bit off. Not my favourite.

33cl Bottle: obtained from Rudi at De Bierboom, Brugge: BBD Jul 17. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru tulip on 3 Dec 13. The sediment joined the rest of the beer in my glass, so the orange body was murky, dull and hazy. The head a proud white blanket of uneven foam. The nose was a surprise, this ’traditional Saison’ had a malty aroma with semi-sweet fruit notes. The taste was also leaning towards maltiness and certainly away from farmyards or rural flavours. Nice enough, but not really a Saison as I know them, grainy in nature but this just seemed too smooth and not rough around the edges like typical beers of this style tend to portray.

330 ml bottle. BB J/2017. From saveur-biere.com.
Hazy golden colour with an average sized off-white head. Very strong grainy malty aroma with mild sweetness and notes of yeast. The flavour is malt, berries and alcohol. Very malty and unclean. Alcohol also too much present. No Saison delicacy at all.
