3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33cl Bottle: obtained from Rudi at De Bierboom, Brugge: BBD Jul 17. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru tulip on 3 Dec 13.
The sediment joined the rest of the beer in my glass, so the orange body was murky, dull and hazy. The head a proud white blanket of uneven foam.
The nose was a surprise, this ’traditional Saison’ had a malty aroma with semi-sweet fruit notes.
The taste was also leaning towards maltiness and certainly away from farmyards or rural flavours. Nice enough, but not really a Saison as I know them, grainy in nature but this just seemed too smooth and not rough around the edges like typical beers of this style tend to portray.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330 ml bottle. BB J/2017. From saveur-biere.com.
Hazy golden colour with an average sized off-white head.
Very strong grainy malty aroma with mild sweetness and notes of yeast. The flavour is malt, berries and alcohol. Very malty and unclean. Alcohol also too much present. No Saison delicacy at all.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very interesting beer. Not like any other Saison I’ve had before. A lot more earthy. A very interesting tasty beer unlike anything else, but I’m sure it won’t be for every one.
