The beer has a nice dark ruby red color. It is slightly lighter than most Stouts. Most of the times the beer looks black on the eye and only reveals its ruby red color when seen with a good light source behind it. The beer pours quite some almond colored foam. The bulk of the foam disappears after a few minutes, but a little soft blanket of foam remains. The smell is strong and delicious. The beer has a nice bitter smell. You can smell delicious roasted barley and there is a nice dark coffee aroma. There might be some chocolate, but the delicious roasted aroma’s of the roasted barley and the coffee are so strong and clearly present, I am not 100% sure. The taste also contains this strong delicious coffee and roasted barley aroma’s. Besides this, there is mild a hoppy aroma. The fruity hops form a nice contrast with the bitter coffee and roasted barley. The beer has a great mouth sensation. The gasses give a tingly sensation on the tong and palatum.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys Newry, drank in Crossmaglen watching Eurovision. BB April 2016, 4.2%. Black, big foamy tan head, full lacing. Aroma is spice, yeast, ash, chocolate. Body is medium, slightly foamy, soft carbonation. Taste is coffee, ash, chocolate, dry, soft bitterness, salty finish. Highly quaffable - I drank the bottle in around a minute and would happily have done another few. My girlfriend spat her sample down the sink.

On nitro tap at McHugh’s, pours black with a creamy beige head. Nose brings out dry bready toffee and some light espresso overtones. Flavour is very restrained, with light dry espresso and some cocoa. Very creamy palate and easy to drink. Solid.
