Slightly infected. AMber coloured and clear. Has an off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma has notes of acid, and roasted malts. FLavor starts lightly sweet, moderate acid and finish lightly bitter. Astringent.

Porter? Ruby red. Irish ale with some hops? Ok, but a weird hybrid of styles

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle, LOT 1010, BB Feb 2015
Dark-brown in the glass with a more white-than-beige head. For a porter quite light in colour...
The beer starts smooth, fruity and roasted-rich. The mainpart is smooth, long and intense. Dark fruit, roasted malt. But in total more a dark ale than a Porter (and on the lable it doesn’t specify its style). The aftertaste is roasted-dark, dry and nicely bittered.
In total a nice dark ale. Fruity-roasted and bitter. --> 12/11/12/12

Nice porter with some leaves and earthy moments. Quite a bit bitter and thin in the end. This one ist just a bit above average,

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours out of the bottle (thank you Steve!) in a deep dark colour with low steady head and medium to smooth body. Nice aroma of malt and torf. Taste of dark coffee, woods, leaves, nuts, dark berries and malt. Quite earthy finish. Nice and smooth to drink, enjoyed it a lot.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This, to me, is a perfect example of brewing beers not styles. It’s labeled as a "ruby porter" but could easily be called a brown ale, dark ale, or a number of other things. Lots of burnt caramel or muscovado sugar maltiness, little coffee bitterness, some spiciness from the hops to balance it out. One of my favourite Irish beers. Makes a fantastic base liquor for a beef or lamb stew too!

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Tesco. Red brown, frothy white head. Sweet caramel malty notes. Medium body, low carbonation. Coffee ish. Fairly non-descript and not a porter!
