500ml bottle at Bierhaus. Pours a hazy dark ruby with a pillowy off-white head. Strong chocolate, turkish delight, and slight liquorice on the nose. Med sweetness, light smoky bacon, light sourness. Quite grassy and chocalatey flavour. Smooth carbonation, medium body. Malty sweet aftertaste, quite dry. Very tasty and interesting, but a bit rough around the edges. Definitely worth a try though.

Bottle. Toffee malt and straw aroma. Amber with moderate head. Sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Decent body. This is the first "ruby porter" I’ve come across - not really much difference from a regular bitter.

Cask (backlog). Ambery brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, some mild nutty notes with mild honey and some bready and biscuity maltiness as well. Flavour is crisp maltiness, ripe fruits, some mild nutty and mild toasted and ashy notes.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Good, old fashioned sort of ale. Pours deep amber with good carbonation and off-white head. Malty like a brown, wholewheat bap maybe and a kind of raisin or prune to the sniff. Nice, malty, slightly roasty flavour and rich mouth feel. Dry bitter-sweet finish. Really like it.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks a lot Tom L.Clear brown with white film. Sweet and nutty aroma, a little chocolate as well. Nutty taste, slightly bitter and toasty, then sweet. Lightish body, chocolate and nutty finish. Nothing new but tasty and balanced.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear brown with a beige head. Aroma of malt, toast, nutty notes, a bit of caramel, a bit of fruitiness. Sweetish flavor with malt, toast, caramel, some nuts, a chocolate hint and a drier finish, slightly bitterish. Medium-bodied. OK. Not really a Porter.

Color rojizo, un dedo de espuma. Aroma neutro, ligeramente frutal a cereza. Carbonatacion justa y cuerpo moderado. Sabrosa en boca, bastante lupulada, con rica malta tostada y con un final bien amargo.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2016 Bottle. Ruby colour like porter. , caramel, bread, woody flavour with creamy head. Good strength. Can easily see why in top 50 in 2007.

Bottle at home in northern Ireland. Chestnut brown copper coloured pour with a lasting loose cream coloured head. Aroma is twiggy, earthy, caramel, little mushroom. A little dried apple and raisin on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of nutty, twiggy malts, dried fruit, little alcohol bite. Little bitterness in the finish. Palate is medium sweet, moderate carbonation.
