2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask (GBBF2011, Friday)
Rich red, small head. Earthy and sour, undergrowthy. Mashy and messy taste. Full of husks and bracken. Again, a touch of acidity. Some saccharine bitterness in the finish. Looks like this didnít survive the journey very well.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle with friends. Pours a hazy amber, with a thin patchy head. Aroma of wood and toffee. Taste is medium sweetness and medium bitterness. Slightly woody. Bitter dry lasting aftertaste, a little metallic, and smooth. Fairly dull, but itís grand nonetheless.

Amber copper pour, nice white head. Toasted malt nose, uncomplex. Flavour similar. Thin bodied, fizzy, short finish. Boring.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle (500ml from Asda, £1.76):
Light with sweet malts and some very light fruit. There are a few floral notes and a very slightly nutty aroma too.
Light copper topped with a bubbly, white head about half a centimeter tall and with about average retention.
Sweet and malty with a bit of earthy bitterness as well. There is a nutty flavour too and some lighter spice in the background.
Light medium body with medium carbonation & a clean and dry, bitter finish that is fairly crisp.
Another fairly average beer from the Whitewater brewery, pleasant and drinkable but lacking anything out of the ordinary. A pretty malty flavour throughout but it didnít have too much else really.

Pigs Ear. The Long Good Friday teamed up with ChrisO. Clear gold - amber beer. Suddy off white head. Palate is light and fairly crisp. Passable hops - tangy dried fruits and a little orange. Semi dry finish with more mild dried fruits. Okay.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pale copper colour with a fair frothy white head. Definite smell of grassy hops. Taste is exceedingly bitter at first, but settles down after a few sips. Fairly hoppy and again with grassy/floral flavours. Fairly thin on the palate and quite light too.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Whitewaterís take on a pale ale, and as such it does what it claims to do, but this isnít my favourite style hence the low marks. But given my preferences perhaps Iím not the best judge on this one.Intensely hoppy.

Light textured pale ale but one that is also very tasty, has good nose too.
