Cask at the Claret, Addiscombe. It pours black with a small beige head. The nose is bitter-sweet, toast, some acidity, light soy sauce coffee and toasted sesame. The taste is bitter, roasty, liquorice, salty touch, mild acidity, coffee, hint of soy sauce with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Textbook cask oyster stout. Pretty solid.

330 ml bottle from Tiddly Pomme, Faversham. Dark brown, almost black body with a medium sized off-white hard that almost disappears immediately. Quite weak aroma of roasted malt. Flavor is also a bit weak and plain. Light roasted malt, not much bitterness and except for some salty tones in the aftertaste there is not much flavor to pick up at all here besides the light malt flavor. Rather thin body. Drinkable, but when I get quite bored after just the half bottle I’m disappointed.

Gravity dispense at the 23rd Battersea Beer Festival - 06/02/13. Mid black with a thin tan head that clears to a film and the edge of the glass. Nose carries roast malts, liqourice, molasses, light dark chocolate notes. Taste comprises dark malt, liqourice, molasses, dark chocolate, treacle toffee. Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry finish. A decent stout.

I’m a fan! Somkey toasted mocha coffee flavours. Lovely texture smooth and satisfying. Medium bodied with just the right amount of carbonation. Made me crave some smokey seafood alongside.
