Commercial Description:
A "Chocolate Chocolate Imperial Stout", this sweet robust dark ale has just a hint of chocolate from the baker's cocoa added to the boil.

On Tap at the brewery. I have no idea what was wrong with this beer. Poured a really nice dark brown color with an off white head. Aroma was a little chocolate, a little coffee, some roast notes, but the flavor was really unpleasent. It litterally made my dad throw up. He took a sip, made a face and excused himself to the bathroom for about 10 minutes. While I didn’t have quite that strong of a reaction to it, there were some definite chemical undertones and a really harsh astringent flavor. I also caught some dish soap on the nose and am wondering if maybe it was just a case of the glasses not being rinsed very well. All of the beers had that same faint dish soap note and it made me wonder if it was infection in the line, or unrinsed glasses. Anyway, unfortunate for the beer, and unfortunate for us. I’d revisit if I lived out here.

Taster - Whitstran Brewing Company - Prosser, WA
Aroma – Huge Dark malt with Chocolate and coffee like aromas.
Appearance – Dark Brown in Color, Thin head and hazy.
Flavor – Huge Chocolate flavors this beer was like a bakers chocolate. Semi sweet but bitter.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, Chocolate texture with a dry finish.
Overall – Huge flavor with this beer . They give a piece of dark sweet chocolate to go with the beer it adds to the experience. This beer has improved from when they first started brewing it.

Dark brown/black with mahogany edges and a tan head. Slightly chocolatey and buttery in the nose. Mint and dark malts. Roasty flavors with that mintiness again. Almost metallic. Not too impressive.

Sampled draught at Whistran Brewing in Prosser, WA
Ruby color, dark, off-white head. Nose of cherry, subtle roast and sweet chocolate. The flavor is lightly tart and stoutish, almost like a mild black cherry stout from Walking Man but tuned down on the cherry to just below audible levels. Unique, perhaps infected but I digress.

Dark brown colour. Aroma is slightly fruity, but heavy on the urinal puck. I’m serious. I’ve never smelled that in a beer before. I suppose it’s some sort of phenol but that’s a real headscratcher. I kept going back to make sure and it was there every time. Sweetish flavour, with hints of chocolate, slight tartness. Roast accents in the finish.
