3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium deep ruddy brown, very effervescent which leans the taste toward and acidic tang, bitter herbal and piney edges emerge quickly and the finish is softly sweet. Fairly timid in terms of overall volume and expressiveness but solid.

Strong carbonation makes this a great drink to have alongside food. Nice hop top notes with some bitter earthy flavours hiding behind.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Brown 500ml bottle, best before End of Dec 2008, drank Mid Oct 2008.
Poured into a Bateman’s (Good Honest Ales) pint sleeve glass.
Clear, light amber in colour, with a huge amount of carbonisation rising up through the body to the large bubbley head.
Aroma was very hoppy, yeast and peppery/ginger smells also prevail as you sniff the brew. I have had this beer at Beer Fests in its cask form and don’t remember the aromas being so strong, being bottle conditioned obviously aides the beer some way in the smell stakes.
The beer has a spritzy, lively feel to it, a fresh almost young (green) taste. Typical English Bitter flavours, but fairly well pronounced for such a carbonated beer.
I began to burp half way through the tasting, it really is carbonated to a high degree. This almost ruined the beer for me. I kept checking the best before date, had I opened it a week after bottling, because that was the impression this beer gave me. What a pity.
