3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml ebony bottle. 4.2% ABV. Poured a heavily carbonated amber with huge frothy head and great lacing. Gorgeous malt berry nose with red wine notes. Strange burnt wood bitter flavour reminiscent of some stouts. Belies the tempting aroma. Neutral mouthfeel with long bitter finish. An unusual quite pleasant beer which I could find habit forming. The burnt flavour won’t be to everyone’s taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Dark gold with a massive head. Aromas are fresh, floral and zesty. Some caramel with citrus. Quite hoppy with some sweet pine. Flavours are dry biscuit with carmel malts and toast. Some toffee notes, also, with a crisp citrus bite. Lightly floral. Sweet, fruity and bitter on the finish. A good refreshing bottle beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Intresting to get a bottle conditioned bitter at this strength, however im wondering if something wierd happened to the yeast in this fellow as there was loads. Aroma is lemon with lightly caramel notes, refreshing. Taste has some sort of chalky caramel biscuit characters which arnt as good as the aroma by far.

1.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle picked up in Sainsbury’s Kidlington 04-05-06. maybe this is the second duff beer that I have picked up this week but I was not in the least bit impressed. This beer continued to foam out of the bottle like an over acitve volcano once I had poured half of it, it tasted like one of my less succesful home brew attempts and looked a mess to be honest, I have had worse but not much had to chuck the second half away. I will buy another bottle at some point and give it another crack of the whip.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from the bottle, a deep amber colour with a good foamy slightly off-white head and a little carbonation present. A roasted nutty malt aroma. Some of the natural carbonation comes through in the mouth, the head tasting quite bitter before the flavours of toasted malt come through. Quite moreish would be the best way to describe this.

500ml bottle from Waitrose. New brewery for me. Copper thick white head. Exploded upon opening and poured with big chunks and big head. Bit musty/earthy bitter with some choc on end. Good to have a bottle conditioned UK ale cos its fuller in the mouth. Drinkable bitter, competent caramel/yeasty/hop. Fine, bit of wood smoke too.
