HogcliffeLenny (155), Christchurch, Dorset, England May 25, 2008 Bottle 500ml from Sainsburys, Christchurch, Dorset. Slightly hazy amber pour with a medium tan head. Distinctive pear drop aroma. Taste of burnt coffee beans with a bitter aftertaste. Quite a thin mouthfeel, though.
wheresthepath (249), Buckinghamshire, England Sep 28, 2008 [500ml bottle from Three Choirs Vineyard shop] Gift from Mum & Dad - cheers! Moderate white head, some carbonation (about right for the beer). Good floral hops, some malt, a little earth and maybe some sweet orange. Well balanced with an interesting mix of flavours - I would have liked more of this. Could maybe do with just a hint more bitterness though. Nekronos (1949), Xalapa, Mexico Sep 12, 2008 The clip is funny. BUt not enough to make me love a bitter. It was good and foamy. I had it at GBBF 2008. oh6gdx (6334), Vaasa, Finland Aug 19, 2008 Cask@GBBF2008. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is vanilla, wheat, some sweet wooden notes as well as mild caramellyness. Flavour is caramel, wood and mild notes of vanilla. Wellbalanced and pleasant. Ethereal (927), London, Greater London, England Aug 9, 2008 Cask at GBBF 08. Slightly hazy dark amber with a great flowery and earthy scent. Smooth and very flavoursome, this is a very good bitter. FatPhil (2362), Espoo, Finland Jul 17, 2008 500ml bottle (Sainsbury’s)
Roast vegetable aroma - even burnt cabbage. Fizzy and a bit watery palate. Quite burnt taste, but can’t shake off the sprouts and asparagus. Ashy and almost smoky in places. Not unpleasant, and quite characterful, but not really pressing my buttons.
