1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 BlackHaddock (2353) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 23, 2012
36th CAMRA Cotswold beer festival (July 2012) in the lovely 15th century Tithe Barn: the setting for my tasting of this beer.
Gravity poured half-pint: I’ll try and be kind to this, but with so many flavoursome beers at the festival this Pale Ale paled into insignificance because of its bland and feeble character. It poured a light gold with a slight haze and a head of thin white foam.
The aroma was weak: grass and floral notes maybe.
The taste was also difficult to find: hints of hop and pale malts mixed in an old yeast container and washed out with too much water.
Body and mouth feel were light (to say the least): if it had been the first beer I’d sampled it might have been OK, but it wasn’t and it wasn’t.

Pleasingly fresh nose with honey, citrus and some floral notes. pours medium gold with some sediment and a weakish head. Flavour is pleasant as well and follows the nose, adding a gentle bitter finish. A refreshing. simple and workmanlike beer, if a touch too simple and uninspiring.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 yngwie (10760) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 15, 2011
Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A beer that pours with a few micro-floaties in an else clear, golden body. Small, white head. There’s some brett-like aromas here, slighlty citrusy and barnyardish, with a grassy, citrus-peel like hoppyness and some malts. Hints of black pepper. The flavor has some pepper, along with brett and bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. A long finish is more or less like the initial flavor, nice and yummy. A beer that might not be intentionally bretted, but it’s sure nice. 110415
