frylock (952), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 25, 2008 Dark amber color with a mid sized head. Aroma of cocoa, dark fruits and some caramel. Raisins and plums are accompanied by a light peppercorn spice. Moderately sweet, with some earthy flavors present as well. Has some nice flavors upfront, but falls a little short in the finish.
BückDich (4558), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle: Pours an amber tawny color with an average head. The nose is yeast and floral with a nice yeasty belgian character, critrusy with an up front earthy hop note. The flavor is spicy with yeast and a sweet malty note, ample grassiness in the finish and a bit too much esters and sweetness. Impaired drinkability and a lingering finish. jrob_21 (886), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 3, 2008 Nice yeasty belgian ale. Pours a nice brown color. Bottle back from bruisin’ ales but now it looks like I can get this in GA. Very interesting caramel an dprune aroma. Flavor is yeast, a little bit of spice, and some purple fruit as well. BigMilly8 (373), Holiday, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2008 From bottle : Pours a hazy cabonated caramel color, with a fizzy tan head that dies out quickly. Very nice aroma, lots of fruit and raisins, peach, malt. Taste isnt quite as yummy as the smell, but pretty good, pretty carbonated as well. Sticky feel in the mouth and medium body. Cant taste hardly any of the alcohol. Aftertaste isnt very desirable. Not to bad though. tronraner (1432), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours mahogany orange-brown with respectable beige head. The aroma is lots of fruity esters-apricot, kumquat, peach, lime- with some lavender, leather, and raisin. The flavor is leather, dried apricots, raisin, and tannin. There’s a mellow, semi-sweet chocolate note to the finish, as well as a bit of herbal bitterness. Pretty good. Snojerk321 (1009), San Diego, California, USA Oct 2, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a dark mahogany color with a 2 finger beige head that dissipated quickly. Sweet malt and caramel on the nose, flavor was very Barley Wine esk but lighter in body....better than I was expecting.
