17thfloor (612), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 17, 2008 [Thanks Davinici] Pours a dark murky thin rootbeer like color with some off-white froth on top. Milk-chocolate and coffee aroma. Flavor is pretty straight forward, light milk-chocolate. Dry finish. Carbonation is pretty extreme and the body is quite light and airy.
jstraw (420), Oak Park, Illinois, USA Aug 1, 2008 Dark brown with fair, creamy, tan head / Deep roast cocoa and coffee nose / Medium body, a touch thin, with good balance of malts and hops, with faint sweetness and good, dry finish / Rich, smooth flavors of bittersweet chocolate, oak, roast coffee, and dry hops / A little more ooph in the body and they’ve got something, or it’s a very fine porter. shadey (1311), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 27, 2008 12oz bottle. Pour is a dark brown/red with a long lasting pillowy head of white cream. Tight tiny bubbles. Aroma is sweet caramel and just a touch of roastiness. Flavor is mild upfront but the roast starts to show more and more as it rolls over the tongue. Very mild stout. Nothing harsh, nothing biting, and kind mild on flavor. But it is easy to drink. The score is worse than it should be. blutt59 (572), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 bottle, dark brown color, fruit nose, chocolate and fruit flavors, good medium body with smooth slightly dry finish Suttree (2272), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 20, 2008 Sitting outside in 90 degree weather may not be the best environment for rating a stout of any sort, but this one came through with flying colors. Dark bronze, with a thin beige head. Aroma suggests a sweet stout more than a dry one - kinda of a mocha latte thing going on. Really nice flavor is more coffee, roasty forward with sweeter notes in the background. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one. jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2008 Dark beer that shines with mahogany colors when held against the light. Big, rocky beige head. Lots of dusty chocolate in the nose, with plenty of fresh cereal grains and malted milk balls. Flavors of coffee, dusty chocolate, malted milk balls, and an almost berry fruitiness under it all. Interesting flavors, but not my favorite stout.
