Bottle purchased at Bodega Blue... Clear, dark mahogany ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. Nutty, creamy milk chocolate nose. Nice roast. Chocolaty, toasty flavor. Balanced well... not sweet, but not burnt nor bitter. Medium-bodied with a skim milk mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, coffee, lightly bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, 5/8/12. I never tried this back when it was available at my WFM store, so I’m glad to see it now. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a thin fizzy tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of dark malts, treacle, toffee, chocolate and some roastiness. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, nutty notes, herbal hops. Medium bodied. Dark with an almost chewy texture and seems oxidized, though it is new at the store. Huh.

Interesting dry stout with notes of milk chocolate, milk chocolate, milk chocolate, and.... am I drinking milk chocolate? Well the beer is pretty tasty and drinkable but one dimensional and kind of "organic" tasting.

This is milk chocolate, or couldnjust taste like that cause I just drank ash water. This is actually pretty tasty,

Bottle poured into a pint glass is black with a thin tan head. Aromas of roasted malt and coffee. Taste is coffee and toast. Body is thin and weak. Overall not one I would have again.

12 oz bottle from Spirits Brick. Okay this was pretty lousy all around. Ugly pour with dirty chocolate edges and a small fizzy light beige head. Aroma was metallic, dirty chocolate water, old bad dough, bad raisins. Flavor is similar to the aroma minus the metallic note. Blah, skip this one if you see it, you’ll thank me.

Bottle pours a deep red/brown with a thin tan head. Scent is caramel and roasty. Taste is light coffee and a hint of chocolate.

Bottle at home in CT. Brownish pour with a medium, eggshell head. Dry chocolate aroma, subtle dark malts. Has an atypical flavor, some dark malts, rich, homemade bread, dry-roasted coffee. Medium in body with average to lively carbonation. Semi-sweet cocoa finish, medium roast, some burnt wood lingering. Very nice beer on the whole.

Bottle. Dark brown coloured with a beige head. Light roasted aroma of caramel, chocolate and liquorice. Light roasted flavor of chocolate and liquorice.

The Old Plowshare poured into a straight pint glass came out of the bottle a little too carbonated for my liking. The head dissipated rather quickly though. The aroma from the glass was very clean, or maybe that’s just because it is an organic beer. The malts hit me instintly. The finish was smooth and crisp. This reminds me of several bottled stouts, ie. 8 ball stout, bison, etc. I recommend this beer but does tend to have that organic taste.

A nearly black pour with a light brown head. It has a mild chocolate aroma with a hint of coffee. The medium body has a creamy texture. The taste is slightly roasted with a dry finish.
