One killer of a beer. It’s big, it’s black, it’s malty & very dangerous.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-Christmas Tasting. It pours jet black with a small light tan head. The nose is soft, sweet, rich, toasty, umami, dried fruits, fruit cake, Eccles cake and a touch of jam. The taste is rich, toasty, woody, bitter - sweet, umami, Eccles cake, plum skin, toffee and warming alcohol. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not too bad at all.

Bottle share at Chriso’s. Thanks! As ’Wibblers Wobbly Mole’, 11%. Black, oily, no real head. Aroma is molasses, rum and chocolate. Very nice aroma. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is tangy fruits, redcurrant, oxidised, booze. Finishes dry, tangy, papery. Bone dry. Not bad overall.

Leighton (18668) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2015
Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre-Christmas / post-Pigs Ear holiday tasting of 2015 - London. Cheers! I picked this beer up about three years ago, from either Kris Wines or Pigs Ear. Pours rich, oily brown with a light, tan cream head. The nose is briney, with light iodine, some roasted malts, dark fruits, toffee. Light to medium sweet flavour with lots of damp, charred wood, leather, berries. Full bodied, oily, with fine carbonation and waxy texture. Lightly warming in the finish with some tangy dark fruits, burnt wood, toffee and old leather. Novel stuff! It has aged pretty well.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s Xmas Tasting 2015, London. It pours a dark brown color with a minimal brown color. Aroma is super sweet and some tangy red wine as berries. Taste is tart and acidic with some tangy and chocolate notes. Light bodied with ok carbonation. Overall, nice

Pigs Ear. Opaque black - brown beer, bubbly tan head. Palate is smooth and a little dry. Dark fruits, mildly spicy. A little earth. The malts only mildly dark in character. Dried fruits. Finishes dry. Not bad.
