Clear light dark yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, grain, fruity, light hoppy, grass. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, metalic, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is metalic. [20120408]

Bottle, bought in Lichtenfels. Pale golden color. Grass and apple in the flat aroma. Pepper, grass and apple in the flavor. The malt is there, but the hopbitterness is very limited. Balance is good, though.

Fruchtig herber Antrunk mit leichter, später stark werdender Getreidigkeit. Auch die vorhandene Herbe wird stärker und vermischt sich mit passender Hopfigkeit. Im Abgang etwas röstig, herb, trocken.

Draught at the brewpub. Dusty aroma. Almost clear golden colour. Small stable white head. Good dusty mouthfeel. A bit grainy flavour.

It’s golden with a creamy, white head and the aroma has notes of malt and flower. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of malt, bread, flower and the finish is slightly dry with hints of straw – it’s really nice and refreshing.

Clear golden with a medium white head. Malty nose with hints of grassy hops. Flavour was fairly malty with floral hops and hints of caramel. Finished dry and bitter.

Barrel. Frothy head in the krug, appears to be golden in color, looks fantastic. Franken earthy aroma. Fricken hoppy beer is delicious with tannins on the tongue, minerals, smooth sweet grains to balance. YUM!

I asked for a kellerbier, which they were pouring from the barrel and this is what I got. Ceramic mug. Herbal, minerally character. Dry herbal hops. Fresh minerals on the palate, herbal and slightly grassy hops. Very dry. Delicious country beer.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Served in stein with firm creamy head. Underneath the head I get glimpses of gold. Grassy nose with cellary notes. Very dry with light, crisp body. Lots of spicy hops provides marked bitterness. Despite being bone dry it does never become hard or metallic, thanks to the well organized malt. Archetypical extremely drinkable German pilsener.
