Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned at 5.0% abv.
Brewed originally for Derby CAMRA's 25th Beer Festival, this rich, dark, traditional porter uses an old Scottish recipe. It has a slightly fruity aroma. The substantial aftertaste is of impressive length, with complex flavours including chocolate and liquorice.
Ingredients: Maris Otter pale, crystal, chocolate and wheat malts. Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Bottled, I think. Deep ruby pour with a creamy, well-retained tan suds. Soapy liquorice snout. Lightly smoky malt with hints of milk chocolate. Musty hops emerging. Toffeeish. Lingers smokily. Silky, chocolate-accented porter.

Cask@Loughborough Beer Festival 2007. Dark beer with a roasted aroma and a lightly malty flavour. Overall a nice beer.

Bottle (5.0% abv) from Hathern Post Office. Good looking porter, opaque near black brown, with a slim beige head. Nice sweet chocolate malt aroma. Nice combination of flavours, chocolate, roast malts, coffee, some licorice and fruits. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated. A very good porter

BCA (From Bitter Virtue, BBE Jan 07. Initial raspberry aroma with light chocolatey malts. A pleasant combination. Body a disappointment tending towards a charred roastiness. Promising start which doesnt deliver.

Dark bottle coditioned with that acidic edge that some bottled conditioned beers have.On top of this I found it hard to trace any real flavour. No doubt in its cask form it’s quite a pleasant porter.
