Apr 9, 2008 Cask, The Albion, Loughborough. Black with a cream head. Aromas are light roast malts with dark chocolate and liquorice. Flavours are smooth coffee with thin chocolate malts. Floral with some saltiness. Dry on the finish. A decent mild.

Jan 10, 2008 Bottle labelled ’Doble’s Dog’, 3.8%. Couldn’t wait to see if this beer was as atrocious as the other two WH brews I’ve just (partially) plugholed. It’s immeasurably better. Pours stout-like pitch with dirty yellow suds and lace. Aroma burnt malt and coffee over an underpinning tang of blackcurrant and hedgerow fruit. In other words, it’s a dribble-maker. More of the same in the mouth, with bags of coffee, blackberry buttery smoked malt, and a hint of dark chocolate. Tasty, assertive, well-conditioned mild, with schwarzbier leanings.

Nov 23, 2002 Watery beer with a slightly bitter/coffee flavour. The aroma is also lightly coffee scented. Overall a dull beer to drink.
