COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! At 6.6% abv this light and fruity ale is black in color, although your palate would never know it. Black Angel is fermented on the Wicked Wild yeast and then moved into stripped down Four Roses Barrels and aged on tart cherries, sweet cherries and Italian plums. The white oak and roast malt add notes of vanilla and graham-cracker that when blended with the tart sweetness of the fruit bring out this robust cherry pie flavor that is unmistakable. This sour is a beautiful marriage of fruit and beer that always leaves you wishing the glass was full.

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Dark amber/brown pour with a tan head. Sweet black cherry and plum on the nose. Some bourbon, vanilla, and caramel malts. Some balsamic vinegar, blackberry, and leather. Nice sourness to the flavor. Good cherry, plum, and blackberry. Aged balsamic vinegar and some sweet vanilla. Kind of jammy. Good lemon zest on the finish. A bit of spiced cherry pie filling.

Black pour with a tan head and some reddish brown hue at the edges. Nose is Cherry, raspberry, oak, tannin, and a hint of bourbon. Nice sourness to this. Acetic, but the rest of the flavor really holds up to it. Lots of cherry in the taste. Oak. Vinegar. Nice maltiness to it as well. Really nice.

Tasted during RBSG. 500ml bottle. Black color. Thin khaki off-white head. Bits of lace. Light chocolate, great black berry, light spice, moderate sour taste, moderate sweet, light bit of nice warmth. Light big of vanilla. Medium to bigger body. Super soft, smooth, lighter carbonation. Awesome stuff!

Offering shared at RateBeer Grand Tasting 2014 (St. Louis, MO). Pours a deeper blackish brown hue, deeper hues in the body with gentle brownish glow on the edges. Frothy tannish ring laces ok. Aromas are a bit biscuity, touches of roast and sour raspberries, a faint cherry, touches of lactic acidity. Mellow funk, cobwebs and touches of gentle biscuit. Initial is a decent sour kick, red fruit and raspberry with touches of roast, a bit biscuity and toasty. More acidic jabs into the backend, raspberry, a touch of vinegar with balsamic and roasty/toasty mix. Some biscuit, faint vanillin and tannic elements meet that lingering acidity. The wild element comes to roost as we finish up but was vague up front. Some firmer sourness in jabs as I get more into this one. Raspberries, a bit toasty with oak, some funk. Nice. One of the better offerings I’ve had from WW so far.
