COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! At 6.6% abv this light and fruity ale is black in color, although your palate would never know it. Black Angel is fermented on the Wicked Wild yeast and then moved into stripped down Four Roses Barrels and aged on tart cherries, sweet cherries and Italian plums. The white oak and roast malt add notes of vanilla and graham-cracker that when blended with the tart sweetness of the fruit bring out this robust cherry pie flavor that is unmistakable. This sour is a beautiful marriage of fruit and beer that always leaves you wishing the glass was full.

A: Oaky. A bit of sweetness and a hint of cherry. A: Pours a very dark redish brown. Head has a hint of black red color. T: Tastes oaky. Cherry note is very subtle. Sourness is good. P: Solid body on the palate. Sourness is great. carbonation is good. Overall this isnít the best showing of a cherry sour but itís pretty solid. The oak note comes through more than the cherry note which is the opposite of what Iím looking for. The medium-heavy body also seems a little weird. Not a bad beer: worth checking out.

Bottle, thank you silver falcon! Pours clear Ruby black, small beige head, dissipates quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is rich cherry, bourbon, vanilla, cocoa. Oddly deceiving aroma; the smell is of something decadently sweet, but the beer is certainly not that. Flavor is light plus tart, rich cherry, cocoa, vanilla, oak tannins, bourbon. Fairly light body, a bit of acetone present on the finish. Initially felt a bit harsh, but certainly mellowed as it warmed.

On tap at the Funkatorium (5/22/15). Great tart nose, fruity and funky. Vanilla, oak, bourbon. Dark brown-black with thin chocolate lacing head. Medium body with medium-light carbonation. Starts tart with fruit and sour funk. Bourbon, vanilla, and a coconut-like taste. Complex and smooth sour bourbon finish with mellow after. Very nice.

50cl bottle pours a murky black with a ring of beige head. Nose has both acid and barrel, pomegranate, raisin, date, vanilla, some acid. Flavor is a bit cheap, cheap acid, cherries, pomegranate, light grist, mild barrel. Tart and hot on the finish.

Like the combo of dark malts, wild yeast, sour and sweet cherries and bourbon. The balance is fantastic. Smooth, though it drinks bigger than itís abv due to perceived sweetness. Really really good.

Dark brown cola appearance with minimal head. Aroma is cherry skins, grape, vanilla, oak, plum. Taste is mild tartness with oaky tannins and cherry. Nice beer without much if any dark beer character.

Iím dead serious when I say you need to make the trip to Asheville and have this on tap at Wicked Weed. Their sour game is top notch... and this brew explains why. Truly awesome.
