COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! At 6.6% abv this light and fruity ale is black in color, although your palate would never know it. Black Angel is fermented on the Wicked Wild yeast and then moved into stripped down Four Roses Barrels and aged on tart cherries, sweet cherries and Italian plums. The white oak and roast malt add notes of vanilla and graham-cracker that when blended with the tart sweetness of the fruit bring out this robust cherry pie flavor that is unmistakable. This sour is a beautiful marriage of fruit and beer that always leaves you wishing the glass was full.

A: Oaky. A bit of sweetness and a hint of cherry. A: Pours a very dark redish brown. Head has a hint of black red color. T: Tastes oaky. Cherry note is very subtle. Sourness is good. P: Solid body on the palate. Sourness is great. carbonation is good. Overall this isnít the best showing of a cherry sour but itís pretty solid. The oak note comes through more than the cherry note which is the opposite of what Iím looking for. The medium-heavy body also seems a little weird. Not a bad beer: worth checking out.

Location: Draft at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium, 1/2/15

Aroma: Sour dark malts, some vanilla and bourbon notes, and a light fruit character
Appearance: The pour is black, without much head or lace on it
Flavor: It has a dark malt and sour flavor, light bourbon, light fruitiness
Palate: Medium bodied, lively carbonation, but not unpleasantly so
Overall Impression: I can see why this is as popular as it is, it does what it is trying to do nicely.

500 ml is 2014 vintage, thanks for grabbing this, Kyle. Pours a hazy translucent dark reddish brown with a rapidly fading light khaki head. Aroma is oak, sour Brett and dark cherries. Flavor is same with medium body, active carbonation and dark fruit Brett finish.

Bottle shared by RussianDragon. Thanks Dave. Dark brown body with a thin beige cap. Aromas of dark fruit, lactic funk, cherries, oak, plums, leather. Currants and raisins with brettanomyces and lacto. Tart, fruity finish. Dried fruit leather with cherry notes. Mild sweetness. Complex and tasty.

shared bottle by a friend, poured a dark brown colour with a tanned head. sour cherry hit your nose up front, cherrie pie indeed!, oak, funk, tart cherrie, raspberries, some roasted notes, i canít taste any of the bourbon barrel that they say... some acid, some plum, more of a fruity tart finish.

Bottle from trade. Poured into a snifter after a long day after Christmas. Aroma is crazy cherry. Like really strong cherry, but not artificial. Pour is deep purple to brown. Small head dies quickly. Taste is immediate cherry and only lightly tart. Malt seems a touch thin and flat, one dimensional. Just kind of cherry water tasting. Not bad I guess.

Really delicious sour. Good for someone who is not a sour fan that is looking to branch into the world of sours. Notes of cherry plumb and a good amount of sour funk. Really good.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with a thin head. Tart and mildly acidic base, with some light tart cherry sweetness, soft and dry funky yeasty notes, and a light acidic finish. Not bad.

Draft at funkatorium. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Solid cherry notes on the nose. Fairly dry on the tongue. Big black cherry notes as well. Finished with lots of tartness. Not bad.

Tap @ Wicked Weed Funkatorium - pours deep dark red, with no head. Heavy on the cherries and funk. Iím not getting much of the bourbon or any oak notes. This one plays up the sourness more than some of the others they have produced. Finishes a bit dry. Very drinkable!

12/21/14. Draft at the funkatorium. Light cherry nose belies the super tart cherry mouth. Classic sour the huge fruit. Just a touch of the bourbon rounding it out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
