COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! Cherry Pie! At 6.6% abv this light and fruity ale is black in color, although your palate would never know it. Black Angel is fermented on the Wicked Wild yeast and then moved into stripped down Four Roses Barrels and aged on tart cherries, sweet cherries and Italian plums. The white oak and roast malt add notes of vanilla and graham-cracker that when blended with the tart sweetness of the fruit bring out this robust cherry pie flavor that is unmistakable. This sour is a beautiful marriage of fruit and beer that always leaves you wishing the glass was full.

Pours a dark brown with beautiful sour cherry notes in the nose with an ever so subtle bourbon scent. The sour cherries and plums come through in the flavor. A beautiful sour!

Tap @ Wicked Weed Funkatorium - pours deep dark red, with no head. Heavy on the cherries and funk. I’m not getting much of the bourbon or any oak notes. This one plays up the sourness more than some of the others they have produced. Finishes a bit dry. Very drinkable!

12/21/14. Draft at the funkatorium. Light cherry nose belies the super tart cherry mouth. Classic sour the huge fruit. Just a touch of the bourbon rounding it out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of emacgee. Pours a deep brown body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is RR Consecration - dark sour cherries, light balsamic and light oak. Mouthfeel is tart and sour with sour cherries, oak, vinegar and sweet fruit.

Dark brown, head is tan with small bubbles. Aroma confuses me a little. It’s not big, and what’s there is hard to put a finger on. Fruit. A little roasted grain. Taste is very sour. That’s mostly what I noticed on a first sip, but after a few it doesn’t seem overwhelming. Also present is a cherry sweetness, and some funky, peppery notes. And definitely chocolate. Smooth, sour, chocolate. I like it.

500ml bottle pours dark brown almost black with a finger of head. Nose is musty dark fruit, grape, touch of spice, ashy cocoa dust and earthy cherry, dirt, fruit. Taste is similar with earthy ashy roast cocoa and tart mixed berries, dirt, dusty wood funk, cola, basement. Finish is tart dark grain funk, cherry, berry, vinous grape, leather, wood. Nice beer.

Bottle from westmeister-thanks, man! Shared with my buddy with Asheville ties in recognition of his graduating from architecture program at CU Denver. Dark brown with light magenta tones at the edges. Nose of Luxardo cherries, light barrel, dark malts. Taste is light oak, lightly tart, soured dark malts, and Luxardo cherries again. Nice beer, well balanced, not a sour bomb.

Bottle shared with Brian at home. Snifter pour is very dark purple - brown with a small head. No lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, roasted nuts, roasted malts, cherries, blackberries, oak barrel, and cherry pie filling. The taste is very similar with a combination of cherry pie filling, tart cherries, roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and oak barrel. Great carb, pucker tart cherry finish. Flavorful, unique.

Hazy chestnut-sepia, puffy sepia head lasts with large bubbles. Heavy oak-vanilla in the nose, light anise merges the coffee elements with faint cherry pith. Fizzy carbonated coffee front palate, heavy sweetness through vanilla mid, lactic overriding light cherry pith, light acid with very dry finish, roast dominating in the very end, lightly offputting bitterness lasting in the finish.

Pour is virtually black with a fizzy tan head that dissipates immediately. Strong porter nose, chocolate, vanilla, roasted, almost burnt malt, and very light cherry notes. Flavor is similar, gets fairly sweet, malts are rich and lightly roasted, cherry flavors come in and lots of sugar sweetness. Fuller body, very creamy but a bit slick, high carb.
