COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional saison is brewed using North Carolina grown barley, wheat and rye from Riverbend Malthouse and is open fermented. The beer is then finished with Brettanomyces and bottled. Drink it fresh, or let it age and bring out the funk.

Sampled as part of JRHB’s brett brewing night. Poured a medium hazy gold, good head. Aroma was funk and light lemon. Flavor matched, with some crackery malts. Rather enjoyed it, well done.

Bottle @ Three Notch’d Tasting. Gold pour with a small head. Very rustic nose. Full of barnyard. Dry manure. Taste is quite dry with a lemony tang. Some brett. Wood and marshmallow. Light body, active carbonation. Not WW’s best work.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy gold, with a white head. Aroma is hops and fruit. Flavor is fruit, hops, spices, and is a bit floral. Don’t notice much brett funk. Medium body. Crisp finish. Really nice.

Not as funky as I was expecting, but it was actually just what I wanted. A great saison. Need to get another to age

500 ml bottle from Secret Santa. Thanks man! It pours a bright golden with a big, thick off white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bright tropical fruit notes with dusty and cob web brett notes. Flavor is fruity and earthy, some peach and earth notes. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a coating mouthfeel. Finishes earthy and fruity. Dead on for a farmhouse ale.

Location: .5 liter bottle from Bruisin’ Ales, 1/5/15

Aroma: Aroma is brett and yeast, plenty of spice, nice citrus notes, and a bunch of pepper
Appearance: A cloudy golden color with a thick, lasting sheet of white head and medium lace
Flavor: The flavor is saison yeast and heavy spice/pepper, fairly funky, with a good bit of fruit
Palate: The body is medium, clean, with a fairly funky feel-wise, with a dry, lively finish
Overall Impression: The draft was my preferred sampling method for this one, but it is an excellent beer in both formats. I got the impression that Wicked Weed makes a great funky beer. I’m excited to try the rest of the bottles I purchased. I’ll use the (slightly higher) draft score for the one I enter here.
4.0:8/4/8/4/16

Location: Draft at the Funkatorium, 1/2/15

Aroma: It has a very bretty aroma, with a nice yeast component, light spice, and fruit notes
Appearance: It pours a nice, clear gold color, with a white head, and fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is bretty and funky, yeast, spice, and a bit of fruitiness as well
Palate: The mouthfeel of this one is clean and funky, with a really nice body
Overall Impression: Really just world class on draft for me. That’s probably my preferred way to drink this one. Excellent stuff.

Bottle. Lots of Brett. Dry brettyness. No tart/sour. Some grassy hoppiness. Pretty one dimensional and boring.
