COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Freak is our San Francisco inspired hoppy monster. At 8.4% abv and who knows how many ibuís, this beer is our shrine to the Hop. Absurd amounts of all the big West Coast hops give this beer itís citrusy weedy nose and big dank hop flavor. Drinking this beer is like stuffing your face into a bag of fresh hops while eating a tangerine. We dry hop with 48lbs per batch or over 3lbs of hops per barrel. In following with the classic style of the West Coast double sugar plays a big part in creating this dry and minimally bitter double IPA. The Freak is particularly pintable for the style, so if you dare to enter we welcome you to the Freak Show.

Golden color with little to no white head. Aroma is light citrus hops. Flavor is slightly hoppy with a clean finish. Rated from a growler, remember it being a little more assertive at the brewery.

Draft. Clear, golden body with a frothy, white head. Aroma of pine, pineapple, orange, citrus, toasted grain, grapefruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Citrus flavors succumb to notes of pine and resin in the aftertaste.

Not a west coast by any means but stands strong in these mountains as one of the best here abouts.

Unbelievable, had a couple here at the brewery but had to rate this one cause this is one of the best dipas I have ever had.

A very good DIPA. Aggressively hoppy. A combination of resinous, citrus (esp. grapefruit) aromas and a nicely balanced finish. Tons of malty sweet backbone. Tried at the brewery in 2015.

Keg at the brewpub, Asheville, 17/02/15. Clear golden blonde with a decent off white covering. Nose is citric pith, grapefruit, light pine, tangerine. Taste comprises skunky hops, pine needle, grapefruit, tangerine, mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, seim drying close laced with a skunked up hop wash. Solid DIPA.

10 oz Draft in the Basement This was my first trip to this renowned Brewpub. The D/IPA poured a light gold color with a small head and lacing. The grapefruit aroma greets you and the citrus bitterness stays with every swallow. The ale has soft carbonation and a medium body. This is well brewed D/ IPA. Sharp bitterness grips the tongue in the back, capping off this colorful D/IPA with a refreshingly dry swallow.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2015 On tap at Wicked Weed. Aroma is 11/10 - beyond perfect juicy sweet hops. Taste:... ... ... Iím back, after being in a hop coma. Before I blacked out I remember sweet tropical fruit notes brilliantly balanced out with a bitter bite. Love it; couldnít be better.

Howler from a trade. Clear gold pour with a small head that fades to a thin ring. Awesome aroma. Heavy dank hops, juicy pineapple, pine, juniper berries, weed, and grapefruit. Tastes very dank. Juicy malt and hops help tame the darkness. Weed, pineapple, and pine are the biggest flavors. Medium body. Ultra oily mouthfeel. Great DIPA.

On tap at the brewery. Burnt orange pour with a white head. Big grapefruit hop aromas. The taste follows suit. Nice balance with a sturdy malt backbone. Good body and mouthfeel.

draft at Wicked Weed, orangish pour, fuller mouthfeel. Resiny hops, tropical, tangerine, grapefruit. Enjoyable
