COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Freak is our San Francisco inspired hoppy monster. At 8.4% abv and who knows how many ibuís, this beer is our shrine to the Hop. Absurd amounts of all the big West Coast hops give this beer itís citrusy weedy nose and big dank hop flavor. Drinking this beer is like stuffing your face into a bag of fresh hops while eating a tangerine. We dry hop with 48lbs per batch or over 3lbs of hops per barrel. In following with the classic style of the West Coast double sugar plays a big part in creating this dry and minimally bitter double IPA. The Freak is particularly pintable for the style, so if you dare to enter we welcome you to the Freak Show.

Golden color with little to no white head. Aroma is light citrus hops. Flavor is slightly hoppy with a clean finish. Rated from a growler, remember it being a little more assertive at the brewery.

Location: Draft at Topelo Honey Asheville, 12/31/14

Aroma: The aroma is tropical hops, plenty of pine/resin, and some caramel notes
Appearance: It is clear gold in color, with a bright white head, and some nice lacework
Flavor: This one has a great hoppy flavor, with a light sweetness, and a big, crisp bitterness
Palate: It is medium bodied, the ABV is super well hidden, and it has a pretty dry finish
Overall Impression: One of my favorites of the year comes on the final day. I drink a ton of IPAs (and DIPAs, and APAs, etc.), and I like a ton of them too, but only a few really standout as world class. This is an excellent beer. This stands out as world class.

My Bottom Line:
This classic Double IPA seduces with precise citrusy, tropical fruitiness perfuming a svelte, effervescent body, leading to resinous hop bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam stays atop the misty blond shine.
-This may be a textbook example, but it is right on the money with everything it does.
-This is amazingly drinkable for a brew this strength. A bit like Pliny The Elder.
-Pale malts are a very able supporting cast.

On tap at the brewery restaurant.

A golden DIPA with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with good floral hops, resinous and piney, clover, classic. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with good resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice and pleasant. On tap at brewery.

Growler from Appalachian vintner. Pours a straight up oramge with a quickly dissipating white head. Chewy fruit aromas and flavors. Orange tangerine some green apple. Great body and light sweetness. Tasty.

Iím a Northwest hop head, and this IIPA warms my heart. Yes, I know WW is famous for its sours, but FoN proves solidly that they are masters of other styles as well.

Sampled at GABF 2014. Pours a light golden orange body with faint haze and white lacing. Aroma is fresh citrus and tropical notes all the way through. No dank character at all really, more just fresh and juicy citrus/tropical fruits, melon, mango, pineapple and bright fresh hop. Super sessionable.

Slightly hazy golden beer with a surprisingly light citrus aroma. Flavour is heavy hop, strong citrus (mainly grapefruit) with a touch sweet fruit for a touch of balance. The strength isnít disguised so itís not a guzzler but itís very nice.

Incredible beer. Reminds me of two hearted ale. Draft at wicked weed in their basement. Yellow clear pour. White head. Tropical candy aroma. Deliciousness hoppy fruity heaven.
