The Freak is our San Francisco inspired hoppy monster. At 8.4% abv and who knows how many ibuís, this beer is our shrine to the Hop. Absurd amounts of all the big West Coast hops give this beer itís citrusy weedy nose and big dank hop flavor. Drinking this beer is like stuffing your face into a bag of fresh hops while eating a tangerine. We dry hop with 48lbs per batch or over 3lbs of hops per barrel. In following with the classic style of the West Coast double sugar plays a big part in creating this dry and minimally bitter double IPA. The Freak is particularly pintable for the style, so if you dare to enter we welcome you to the Freak Show.

Very happy to try a small growler of this at Beer Study. Clean sharp yellow pour with one finger of white head. Super resinous and oily nose, thereís a mild onion/garlic component with lots of citrus. Super hoppy and resinous, pretty awesome.

Bottle shared on the RBSG bus. The beer is a hazy yellow with a white head of foam. The aroma has big pine, citrus and resin to it. Bitter throughout, but has a lingering sweetness to it as well. Big body and medium carbonation.

As a fan of IPA in general, this one really rocks. Medium mouth feel with just the right amount of citrus/ bitterness. Tried another IPA from another brewery in Asheville recently and might as well have been drinking a glass of grapefruit juice. Freak of Nature is well balanced and I highly recommend it.

A wonderfully balanced double IPA. Mango and citrus nose that tastes the same. Great balance between malts and hops that finishes slightly oily with a good hop bite. Wonderful.

Chudwickís mom gave me two 4.3ís in a day. This is bold with citrus hops and grapefruit in the aroma. However, the first taste brings out a mintiness. Very different, but straight awesome!
