4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Didn’t think it could get better than The Freak DIPA, but this triple dry hopped version with 11.4% abv is extremely drinkable and enjoyable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at Beer Study. Very clean and sharp light gold pour with two fingers of sticky white head. Very hoppy nose with citrus notes and raw heady hops, very dank and oily. Some onion and garlic notes with heavy resin. Oily hops in the flavor with citrus rind upfront. Dank hop flavor with a medium body and full bitterness.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub. Really nice floral hops aroma. Very drinkable and very well attenuated. I hate when a beer this big is a sticky sweet mess - this beer is not that. It has a surprisingly dry finish for being so big. And it is very drinkable. It was only available to go in a half growler, but I brought one home. Two pints of this would be plenty anyway.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the brewpub. Big aroma, big hops and more malt presence than you might expect. (Has this in common with their DIPA.) This is all flavor, no alcohol pinch, amazing for an 11% abv. About as good as any East coast-style imperial.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
A specially made beer for Asheville beer week. I expected an over the top hop hell...like too much...instead a beautifully balanced, drinkable triple IPA. They joked on the board that it was 1,200,000 IBU...I think it was a joke. Get it. It will be gone.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Snifter at the brewpub. How is Wicked Weed so good? Here we add another amazing hoppy beer to their catalog. Hops are vibrant and dank and the 11% abv is completely hidden. Most IIPAs this strength get too malt or sweet, but not this one. It does have a hefty body but never strays from its hoppy identity. The finish is very citrusy with notes of melon. Just excellent.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Comes out of the tap a hazy golden with a fairly thick white head. Aroma is monumentally hoppy with hints of fruit and sweetish malt. Overpowering flavor has a strong malty note and more than a hint of citrus, mainly Mandarin orange and s little grapefruit. Firm, lively texture has plenty of fizz. FREAK OUT! Le Freak, c’est chic!
