Brewed with blood orange puree and fresh grapefruit zest, this beer is unlike any other. The richness of blood orange pairs nicely with the tart flavor of grapefruit and hops. We dry-hopped this beer Amarillo and other top secret hops. Why the name Hop Burglar? Level 5 clearance required for this information.

Growler from my awesome mother-in-law. Pours a light clear orange with a small white head. Nose of orange and a bit of grapefruit, with lots of pith. Resiny notes that settle as it warms. Slight tropical notes from the Amarillo hops. Crisp and relatively light for an IPA. Slick palate.

Deep copper pour, clear, with a white head. Really nice dank citrus nose. A little grapefruit, hop bitterness and grapefruit pith bitterness in the finish. Interesting but a bit more bitter than I prefer.

Bottle from Trevor. Pours blood orange with rimming white head. Nose is slight. Seriously tastes like eating orange rind. Bitter, not astringency, flat, mute, I-ate-too-much-rind bitter. Not my style, but well executed.

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a clear copper with a white head of foam. Aroma was steong citrus and earthy pine. Sweet hop tea kind of taste. Medium body and medium carbonation. Pretty good.

Growler. Pours clear, pretty copper with a thick and frothy pale buff head. Aroma offers hoppy and orange notes plus whiffs of malt and grapefruit. Flavor pleases with orange, hoppy and subtle grapefruit notes, as well as fresh malt and a hint of evergreen. Mouthfeel features average body and OK fizz. Steal away with it.

Bottle thanks to my buddy Dan’s road trip. Poured to snifter. Moderate juicy citrus nose. Light caramel malt presence. Pours a hazy deep gold to almost red. Small white head. Taste is a pulpy and juicy citrus blend with a faint tartness. Seems more like an overly fruit beer than an IPA. A lingering bitterness reminds you it is an IPA and helps dry it out. Nice, but I think I like the unfruited IPA better. Seems like the fruit just messes with the base beer

12 ounce bottle - Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia. Bottled On: 04.13.16. Appearance: Pours a coppery body, slightly hazed and capped with a lace-inducing, medium-small, off-white head. Smell: Lightly toasted grains, crumpled crackers and a small sweetish touch of blonde caramel candy, though, ultimately, it’s a fruity, juicy aroma with plenty of citrus to go ’round. Taste: Softly toasty with an upfront though restrained sweetness. Moves into its fruity, fresh, juicy character pretty quickly, but also harbors some peppery herbaceousness. Moderate bitterness. Many times, these added citrus droppings fall flat with me, but here the citrus additions are discernible against the hops and act to nicely enhance and compliment them. Bitterish finishes with a snappy, acidic citrusy bite. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. A bit of oiliness on the mouthfeel. Overall: Nice beer.

Draft at the brewery during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear gold with a frothy white head. Juicy, fruity hop aroma, some orange, grapefruit. Light to medium sweet flavor with good citrus character, light rindy bitterness, pine needles. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with light alcohol warmth, more bitter citrus rinds. Good one.
