Malice is the land between sour beer and Brett beer. The beer was brewed with over 100 pounds of tamarind, blood orange, and lime zest. Dirty straw orange in color, it’s bursting with earthy funky tartness and finishes with heavy citrus skin and tart citrus. The land between is so good!

Golden pour with a white head. The aroma ha a lot of blood orange notes as well as some biscuit malt. In the flavor I get some tart blood oranges, biscuit malt and tart tamarind. As the beer warms it starts to smell a bit like a pina colada, with some coconut notes also coming through in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice beer.

Both in bottle shared at BSP and on draft at the source. Love the tart citrus and lime with the sour and funky ending. Nice.

Above average mouthfeel, smooth. Very drinkable, moderate blood orange taste. A little funky on initial sips.

Reddish orange pour with a light pink head. Aromas of sour tart orange, lime, slight spice. Not sure I can isolate tamarind since I have never had it alone. Taste is slightly sour and slightly dry in the finish. Interesting. Good. Not great though.

Sampled at the End of History tasting. Aroma is orange peel and bubble gum. Pours peach colored with a small frothy head. Taste is blood orange, bubble gum, orange zest and a band-aid funk finish. Tastes like most things I hate about a witbier but the funky presence is welcome. Probably wouldn’t repeat.

Bottle, sent by b3shine-- thanks Beau! Ruby red pour, low pink head. Lovely aroma of pinched orange skin and soft earthy funk. The palate is light-- lighter than the 6% ABV led me to expect-- but very refreshing, again with pithy blood orange skin, and an earthy lemony sour character. The finish is tart and funky, not puckering. Very nice sessionable sour.

Bottle pours with a deep gold body that has copper hues and supports a thin near white head. The aroma offers up meadow, flowers, some tartness, malts and a bit of apple like fruitiness. The taste starts tart but not aggressively where there’s some apple and a dash of lime fruitiness leading into an interesting mix of woody sort of acidic notes. Pretty nice overall as it is tart, acidic a kind of woody spiciness but there’s enough going on to keep it interesting.

Bottle, shared by a kind soul, in a location remote of my dining room.
Pours a hazy orate color with a small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is funky with some strawberry, some grass, some citrus rind, and a touch of sweetness.

The flavor is tart, it’s got a nice strawberry and orange peel fruity thing going on. It’s dry and lightly bitter.

Mild sour smell. Medium carbonation with a bit of foam. Taste is minerally and light sour.
