Malice is the land between sour beer and Brett beer. The beer was brewed with over 100 pounds of tamarind, blood orange, and lime zest. Dirty straw orange in color, it’s bursting with earthy funky tartness and finishes with heavy citrus skin and tart citrus. The land between is so good!

Bottle (500 ml). Thanks to Rich for this one! Slightly hazy golden/amber with a small off-white head and little lacing. Aromai is of bright citrus, brettanomyces, buttery notes (or oak/vanilla presence), perfume notes and light oak. Taste is of juicy citrus, light tartness, brettanomyces, oak/vanilla notes and light earthy notes. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Woodsy finish. Nice citrus features. Quite tasty, but definitely lack of depth to be a world-class sour.

Sample at the 2014 Infected Chimipalooza on 11/01/2014. Peach-colored pour with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of funky fruit, earthy yeast and herbs. The finish is fruity with a tart citrusy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Nice to have this in conjunciton with that funkwerks. Very similar beers in their effort. The funkwerks comes through a little more full bodied and well rounded but this one is still a nice drink. Lots of cherry. Flavor is funky pepper and cherry fruit again. Finish has a little bit of spice to it.

Got a bottle from the brewery in Asheville to take home. Was surprised by how cheap it was at the brewery from draft. Quite cheaper than the bottled. Also the food is very good and a great environment. The brewery is rated very highly and it totally deserves it. This beer was very interesting; one of the most thought inducing beers. Great aroma and mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
