COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Malice is the land between sour beer and Brett beer. The beer was brewed with over 100 pounds of tamarind, blood orange, and lime zest. Dirty straw orange in color, it’s bursting with earthy funky tartness and finishes with heavy citrus skin and tart citrus. The land between is so good!

Bottle @ home. Bright orange pour with a white head. Tart cherry and raisin on the nose. Lots of orange, a little bit of funk, and citrus. Sort of earthy and tangy. There is a good bit of sourness to the flavor. Citrus peel, some citrus zest, and tangy tamarind. A little earthy.

bottle to snifter. Nose is earthy, horsey, sweaty. Pour is a hazy, reddish orange, with a small white head. Taste is sweaty, horsey, lightly tart, with a caramel malt backbone. Very very earthy and dirty as it warms. Citrus seems a bit faint in the flavor. Overall, ok, but not a beer I would seek out again.

500ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy amber/copper with a cream-colored head. Aroma of light Brett and tartness, a lot of blood oranges and other citrus/sour fruit, some pale and light caramel malts, and hints of spices. Flavor the same with the tart beer and blood oranges blending nicely. Average texture. A surprisingly good beer.

Bottle at James’ house for the End of History tasting. Pours a hazed gold with a thin white head. Soft acid on the nose, a touch of wood and some herbal notes. Medium bodied, a bit of herbal notes, acid, hints of licorice, strawberry bubblegum. Long slow acid and tangy tart wood with lingering strawberries.

My Bottom Line:
Sour cherries and oranges sweating in the barn, leading to tartness and bracing dryness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam lays upon the hazy amber.
-The fruitiness is hard to pin down, but it remains this beer’s best feature, imho.
-The funk and acidity don’t meld well in every sip.
-The flavor profile is not as refined as most Wicked Weed creations (even though it is very enjoyable).

On tap at The Funkatorium.

A lightly hazed golden amber ale with a thick frothy lacing light mocha head. In aroma, pleasant fruity biscuit malt with grassy hops, light mineral notes, Brett notes, cork character, dry and smooth. In mouth, a nice dry and puckering, red grapeskins, grassy hops, nice and puckering. On tap at Funkatorium.

Appearance: Served up a dark orange body in hue, fairly hazed, with a small though sustained white, gently fluffed head.

Smell: Slim malts hinting of day-old biscuits, leathery dried oranges and light, albeit fragrant lime peel with some brett tones but also some light lactic tones.

Taste: Restrained toasted biscuity maltiness enveloped in a well-rounded, earthy funkiness. While the acidic lime and tart blood oranges serve as a somewhat subtle, but entirely complimentary character. Lightly spicy. Modest oak barrel quality. Scantly lactic through to the citrusy, brightly carbonated, dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel.

Overall: Good stuff! Charmingly drinkable and tasty throughout.

bottle shared by tom10101, thanks bro! pours hazy dark golden, orange tint, with a light beige head, reviving and leaving some nice lacing. spicy coconuy, fragrant and perfumey caramel, lightly tart cherries and other red fruitiness, lightly buttery celery, some citrus zest and few tannins. bright carbonation, light body - watery, dry, very lightly tart and astringent spicy finish. interesting ufo.

Pours a lightly hazy copper with a thin white rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is of fruits, red wine and some unfortunate butter. Taste is of juicy oranges, oak and moderately tart. Body is light and carbonation medium-high. Juicy. Overall a nice one, interesting fruitiness!
