This Imperial red ale was aged for 7 months in port wine barrels, giving this beer the depth of a dessert wine, but the dryness of Wicked Weed beer. Huge toffee and deep caramel notes are supported by the tannin character of wood.

Tried this last time I was at the brewery and wasn’t all that impressed. Got a full pour this time and really came to love it. Cloudy reddish orange pour with a solid beige head. Nose is very woody, with notes of toffee, some sour hints, hops and some dried fruits. Taste is complex, starting with some woody and tart notes, then hitting an earthy and very cedar-like bitterness that almost hits too hard... but then a real deep fruitiness (this is where the port really shows) comes through, almost as an aftertaste. Well done, indeed.
