Hopheads and dark beer lovers alike, this beer is for you. This 9.6% ABV beast of a beer is black as night and dry hopped like a double IPA. We use de-husked black malt to achieve a dark color without the astringent flavors normally found in stouts.

GABF. Pours a nice dark brown color with a very light tan head. The resiny hops and the roasted malt play really nice together. Quite drinkable and smooth. Awesome black IPA. KCorum10, you need to try this if you haven’t.

Draft at the source. Huge pine aroma on a tremendous roast background, wonderful. Taste is nicely balanced between pine and roast.

Draft at Wicked Weed. Pours a deep brown color with a tan head that laces the glass. Notes of chocolate, toasted and roasted malts, earthy and citrusy hops, dust, and grilled fruits. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty, bitter mouthfeel. Nice, big black IPA. I probably would like this even better without so much palate fatigue. Really well done.

Drank when I was boost level 9 after RBWG GT. Poured a pitch black body with a foamy deep beige head. Aroma is chocolate, burnt toast, vanilla, burnt citrus fruits. Medium body with average carbonation and a long lasting aftertaste. Flavor is the same as the aroma with the addition of some coffee notes. Really nice.

>> Pours near black with fantastic rocky beige foam, fantastic lacing. Nose is grilled mango, grilled pineapple. Straight up what I’m looking for in Black IPA. Taste is the same- grilled mango and pineapple, silky rich fudge. Palate is juicy, slick, dense, fresh hop oils. Absolutely perfect. Easily best beer at WW today. Stunning.

Taster on tap at Wicked Weed during RBWG. Dark black color. Good thin brown head. Thicker brown lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Bigger bitter taste. Minimal sweet taste. Light citrus zest. Good chocolate, light roast, some brown sugar. Awesome, aromatic black IPA. Good grapefruit, citrus notes, lightly spicy. Hides alcohol well.

Draft at Wicked Weed during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours black-brown with a frothy, beige head. Good aroma, light roast, some orange peel, mellow chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with light alcohol presence, dark bread, cocoa and modest citrus rind bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish with toasted bread, earth, burnt pine and baking cocoa. Solid black IPA.

2014 RBWG At the brewery’s downstairs tasting room. One of only two black IPAs that I remember that are both black and taste like an IPA. Pours black with a tan head. Pine resin hop aroma. Some roast malt aroma but it is very subdued. Nice hop flavor and bitterness.
