Serenity is our aptly named 100% Brettanomyces fermented beer. We are one of only a handful of breweries in the US doing 100% Bretta fermentation. That said for our first one we wanted to do it in the farmhouse style that bretta entered the Belgian brewing world. Serenity is light in color with a subtle golden haze, the nose bursts of white grape, mango, pineapple and old leather. The flavors are similar to those found in New Zealand white wines and notes of guava and grape skin stand out leading to a well-rounded finish.

Draft from the downstairs taproom. Pours a bright hazy gold. Nose of bright lemons, lemon oil, hay, some barnyard funk, acetic acid, and more lemony Brett. Taste adds a hint of sweetness but mostly a nice pucker. Super approachable and refreshing yet still big and flavorful and wonderfully sour. I could have drunk a pitcher.

Bottle... Pours hazy and yellow with a gushing, foamy, white head. The aroma features funky notes of horseblanket, worn leather, woodiness and a fruity, citric component – I’m going with lemon. Light-bodied and watery with zippy carbonation. Lemony, tangy, salty flavor followed by a slightly salty aftertaste. Salty? Could be my taste buds needing a reboot, but that’s what I’m picking up here. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!
Note: I’ve picked up saltiness in two beers tonight. Neither was a gose or an oyster stout. My taste buds may be tainted.

Refrigerated 0.5 L brown bottle poured into a glass. Hazy light golden with small white head. Light tart, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is tart, earthy, and mango.

At Rich’s Massive Cellar Emptying Tasting. Wicked weed serenity 5.5% cloudy lemonade gold. Burnt rubber, a bit tart and just odd. Soft body and medicinal brett, metallic and just not for me.

Draft sample on tour at the Funkatorium served in a tiny snifter glass; hazy golden color with white head. Aroma notes of white wine like fruitiness, citrus, hay and some tropical fruits. Taste adds bread, oak, lemon, pineapple and yeast funk. Light body, low-moderate carbonation, soft with fruity tart finish. Good stuff.

On tap downstairs WW. Hard to believe it has taken me until now to try this beer. Nice hazy light golden pour into perfect glassware as always. Super subtle but so good. Somewhat tart, somewhat funky, earth and citrus. Reminiicent of a NZ white gone rogue - green grass and mild tropical notes. Great finish- crisp and dry. Couldn’t ask for much more in a summer beer.

Pours cloudy golden with white head. Aroma is light fruity, lemon, white wine and light funk. Flavor is light fruitiness of green grapes, citrus sourness, lemon, white wine, dry oak and a light farm house funk finish. Nice light bubbly mouth feel. The funk flavors were light in this beer and a lot of white wine flavors and aromas. Really enjoyed. Excited to finally try something from this brewery.

Bottle @ Drink Rich’s American beer, thanks to Omgrich.
