COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale is a nod to the Northwestern states. Brewed to 6.6% abv and 45ibu this is a robust sunset red colored ale. The use of multiple varieties of crystal (aka. caramel) malts gives this ale a huge amount of malt depth. Malt flavors of toffee, caramel and sugarcane bring a sweetness to the large amount of hops used in this ale that is hard to achieve. This ale has a juicy fruit like hop flavor and a dank evergreen and grapefruity aroma. Recommended pairings, burgers, spicy food, vinegerette salad.

Sampled at WW upstairs (5/17/15). Nice hop aroma with caramel and toffee notes. Medium coppery amber clear with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nice caramel flavor, with a bitter hoppy finish and some spicy rye after.

Thanks Carl! Solid, not amazing red IPA. The brett version elevates this beer a ton. Ether way, nice solid caramel body, plenty of piney and dank hops. Some grapefruit aspects. Not bad.

3/20/16. Bottle thanks to Carl. CORRRRALLLLL!! THE BOTTLE, CORRRRALLLLLL! Amber pour with a small khaki head. Mild hop aroma, fruity, pine, citrus, loads of caramel and toffee. Lightly sweet flavor, juicy fruit hops, citrus, pine, plenty of caramel, doughy, bready. Not bad.

I’ve found few beers that I enjoy more than this one. Pours a dark amber with a two plus finger head. Nice lacing. Mouthfeel and taste are just outstanding.

Reddish color with a thick off white head. Assume is piney hops. Flavor is pine hops with big semi sweet malt in the finish. Bittersweet finish.

330 ml bottle served in a lager glass. Label describes this as a red IPA at 7% ABV and displays a bottled date of 23 Sept. 2015. Looks as expected and as hoped: reddish amber body with visible carbonation topped with a very durable light tan head that leaves patterned lacing. Aroma & Flavor: Closer to an IPA than to a typical amber, this does have low bitterness for an IPA. The flavor is quite a bit more malty than a typical IPA. The hops create suggestions of citrus fruits and spruce trees in the aroma. Feel: near full bodied with soft, medium+ carbonation. Nicely smooth yet lively.

Bottle, purchased in Raleigh. Pours a hazy amber with tiny unfiltered particles floating and a light beige head. Citrus, pine and toffee/bread in the nose - medium strength hop aroma. Nice flavor and balance on this one - grapefruit, pine sap, tangerine, toffee and bready malt. Pleasant level of sweetness with ample, clean hop bitterness. Full, round and creamy on the palate with moderate fine-beaded carbonation. A rock-solid PacNW style hoppy red.

Draft. Brewery now lists IBUs at 55. Arms of stinky cheese. Dense lace. Flavors of grapefruit, orange and a washed-rind cheese, quietly bitter throughout. Finished with some milk chocolate.... and green onion?.Nothing like what you’d expect from a red ale.
