2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle conditioned, 500ml from Waitrose in Bath. Black with no head. A beer I had been looking forward to, but seemingly a victim of the inability of many small brewers to be able to bottle condition. There is a background dark roasty, chocolate note, but this seems to be a little infected with a sour tartness. Iíll re rate when I see the cask version.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear dark amber - brown beer. Small pale tan head. Palate is smooth with super fine carbonation. Nice mouthfeel. Creamy mild malts, touch of dark toffee and dark fruits and a whisper of bubblegum ester. Finishes smooth with more dark fruits and mild minerals. Good porter!

Cask at The Punchbowl in York. Pours dark brown with orange glints and a creamy light tan head. Aroma is malty? Med body. Flavor is very nice - seems to be a mix of chocolate, smooth dark malt and maybe a hint of coffee. Itís flavorful, but Iím having trouble parsing the flavors.

This was a light and airy porter, lively carbonation, with a host of flavours starting with slightly smoky chocolate vanilla malts and finishing with a dry shortbread biscuit.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Full of smooth flavour, more malty chocolate than coffee though. However, quite possible that to rich and heavy for repeated drinking all night.
