2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours an amber mixed with copper color. Aroma is of bourbon and whiskey combined with malt. The cask taste comes through, with distinct oak barrel flavor. The complex palate dissipates rather quickly which allows the alcohol content to be hidden.

22oz bottle, reddish brown pour. Minor aromas, some malts. Roasted flavors, some bourbon, mild sweetness, astringent in the finish. Not worth the price. Does not blend well.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Tony/Jim BA Birthday Extravaganza 2013 (Western Springs, IL). Pours a nice darker amber brown hue, gentle copper glow on the edges with decent haziness. Frothy offwhite head atop stays as a decent filmy layer, ok lacing. Aromas are citrusy lemon, orange and gentle dryness. Vanilla, butterscotch and oak. Mellow spirit and sweetness. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a bit more full with toasty malts, biscuits and cherries. Firmer citrus rind is oranges, gentle oak and vanilla. Touches of spiruit and warmth, toast and biscuits. Some soapy earth, dryness and oak. A bit tannic, not hot but a firmer non-deScript sweeter strong ale. Backend is a bit biscuity, some vanilla, and gentle tartness, a bit tannic and dry. A weird beer, the Bourbon doesnít offer that much life. Still, itís ok. Looks great. Gentle warmth grows a touch.

Not bad, but you can really taste the alcohol and I don't recommend letting it get warm. You will only make that mistake once.
