Drawing inspiration from an Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemenís Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, this collaboration beer brings together two breweries from opposite ends of the country and ingredients from the home states of both breweries. Using an Old Ale recipe as the base beer, Gentlemenís Club was brewed with cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to mirror the qualities typically found in an Old Fashioned cocktail. The beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, resulting in three unique versions of the beer, each offering a slightly different take on the same age-old recipe.

on tap at New World Brewery. aroma was quite hoppy and boozy, flavor was similar. the alcohol was quite hot and way up front, stomping on pretty much the rest of the flavor, of which i got a little bit of wood and piney resin, almost like drinking cough syrup. maybe the other 2 that are BA arent as booze heavy as this one.

Small creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly neutral, caramel malts, butterscotch, vanilla, dark sugar, oak, toffee, hints of alcohol and grass, chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet, caramel malts, dark sugar, butterscotch, toffee, vanilla, oak, grass, hints of alcohol and chocolate. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Nice.

Grabbed a bottle from Whole Foods went with new oak since it was highest rated although knowing my own tastes rye may have been better choice. pours reddish murky copper with thin head that dissipates. nose of toffee of wood. Its oaky, with vanilla, toffee, cherries, raisins, light hoping, and quite dry. palate is a touch thin and its drying on finish. I ordered an old fashioned at wedding recently and I can see it here.

On tap at Belmont Station Bier Cafe, pours a murky dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma is quite complex, bringing out lemon peel and oak barrels upfront. Flavour is quite boozy, with notes of oak, alcohol, paint thinner and some dark fruits, taken out a bit by the lemon. Not the most refined beer, but drinkable in small quantities. Okay.

650 ml bottle. Pours a somewhat cloudy red hue with a small white head. A sweet nose with berries, wood. A big malty sweet fruity flavor with dry caramel. Light oak. Toffee and chardonnay. Good.

22oz bottle thanks again to DaTimbennett. Pours a light amber/copper with a thin tan head. Sweet malt hop and boozy aroma. Oak malt and slight fruit taste.

8/3/13. 22oz bombers. Trying all 3 at once and putting my full impression copied and pasted into each entry with varying scores as necessary.

In general, theyíre all the same color. Itís sort of a light amber, more of a burnt orange with touches of red, with some haze. I tried to pour them all in the same manner into a clean glass and they all have a good sort of khaki colored head, ranging from 2-3 fingers. At first pour, the bourbon barrel aged one seemed to have the best head and lacing. After a few drinks, they all lace pretty well.

Iím sort of doing these in the order new oak, bourbon, and rye whiskey, but in general doing them all at the same time to catch the differences. They all share some generic aroma aspects: a bit of fruitiness, especially citrus, but mostly plenty of big maltiness - caramel, old ale, etc. The wood shine through very uniquely when side by side. The New Oak is a bit harsh, smells like straight wood, very woody, just a bit of vanilla in there. The Bourbon is the smoothest to my nose, touches of booze, bourbon, vanilla, and a hint of char and fudge. The Rye Whiskey punches through strong, by far the booziest, a little sweet and spicy.

They again share similar flavors from the base beer. Malty, caramel, hints of cherry, but I wish for more, definite citrus, and a bit of corn and oxidation. The New Oak is a bit rough for me again, very woody, raw, touches of vanilla. The Bourbon is smooth, a touch of booze, vanilla, caramel, etc. The Rye Whiskey is a little boozier, a bit spicier, sweet, and bready.

Overall, I like the Bourbon version best, followed by the Rye, and the New Oak is a few steps behind. In general, theyíre unique and tasty - a great idea.

Pours an amber brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of heavy caramel malt, bitter hops and alcohol. Taste is malty with a hoppy bitterness, some oak and booze. Smooth with a nice medium body. Really nice, best one of the series.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours ruddy amber with a slight beige head. Aroma is brown sugar - though not strongly so. Near full bodied. Flavor is mixed fruit, brown sugar, and astringent oak. Itís not really bitter, but between the oak and the hop thereís enough to offset the malt. With time the bitter tends to build up in the mouth. A little red berry and citrus come along. Finishing nicely balanced with brown sugar, fruit, oak and bitter. Itís very different, but persistence reveals a pretty nice ale.

It pours a deep amber with a fine lacy head that quickly disappears. The aroma smells fruity, sweet, and a hint of hops. The flavor is very smooth on the tongue with a hint of sweet and oakiness. Nicely done Gentlemen, nicely done.
