Drawing inspiration from an Old Fashioned cocktail recipe and the Gentlemenís Clubs where the cocktail was first served over 100 years ago, this collaboration beer brings together two breweries from opposite ends of the country and ingredients from the home states of both breweries. Using an Old Ale recipe as the base beer, Gentlemenís Club was brewed with cherries and oranges, Alchemy, Sorachi Ace and Pacifica hops, and hand-selected specialty malts to mirror the qualities typically found in an Old Fashioned cocktail. The beer was aged on three different woods: bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and new oak spirals, resulting in three unique versions of the beer, each offering a slightly different take on the same age-old recipe.

Iím a bit partical to Rye Barrel aged beer! This one, could use perhaps some time in the cellar. But I wanted to see first if it was worth it...it was. So obviously you can read the other comments on the taste, feel and overall how it turned out. But for me. This is one Iíll let age.

Bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Light malty, sweet, fruit, rye and wood aromas. Rye, whiskey, oak and mild sweetness and liquor tones.

22 oz bottle- Pours hazy dark orange with a thin light tan head, similar if not identical to the Bourbon version. Aroma is seemingly more muted, getting a little cherries, oak, some vanilla. The taste is oak, i am really getting the rye, spicy and somewhat dry, a bit more of a harshness to this over the bourbon. These are more different than i thought, both have their qualities, but i think i like the bourbon a bit better.

Draft at Moriartys. Billed as "Widmer Rye Barrel Aged". Description-wise this seems the likely choice - but not certain. Ended up with the last pour of the keg. So all this may be nonsense. BUT - clear dark orange amber pour with a slim lasting small-bubble off-white head. Plumy old ale. Slight smoke. Feels a bit watery. Noticeable Whiskey notes though in balance they feel quite faint. Some spiciness gatherers towards the finish. Some nice interesting flavors here but ultimately feels too muted and watered down.

Pours murky brown with little head. Little overt whiskey in the flavor, but there is an even background whiskey flavor. It's nice but I wish for more. The citrus added is too muted however, leaving the beer tasting a lot like a old ale and not much more. Good chewy malt but an odd bitter finish that doesn't do it for me.

"2nd of the 3 we tried...barreling lighter than expected, but compementary rather than stealing the show. Upped the abv a little, but not noticeably. The old ale still shines, with a slight added sweet pepper finish. Maaaaybe a touch smoother too."

Brown in color, clear with a thin head. Lots of bourbon and rye mix flavors. Tons of barrel aging you can tell. Nice easy sipping beer.

On draught at Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom for BenFest. Caramel color. Aroma is lollipop, caramel, whiskey, and wood. Taste is rye, candi sugar, plum, wood, and sweet toffee. Feel a slight alcohol burn on finish, but also get a nice wood-aged sweetness in the aftertaste.

Brown pour with an off-white head. The rye whiskey barrel aging is very apparent immediately with this one. Notes of orange peel and whiskey with spicy rye notes coming through. Flavor is similar. Still donít get any cherry flavor with this one but still an interesting and decent brew.

This beer is a brownish-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, oak and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, whiskey, cherries and hops. The finish is oaky with an earthy hops and fruit aftertaste. Above average overall.
