On tap at The Chicago Beer Festival 2014. Translucent copper with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavor of faint tropical fruit, pine resin, light caramel, and grapefruit. Finish is bread and grain.

Golden amber with a slight haziness, very nice enduring lace. Earthy, and lemon hoppiness on the nose, with black pepper, bread and yeast. Hop bitterness up front with citrus and grassiness, followed quickly by mild toast, malt, berries, and a hint of mint. Medium body and carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, and a dry, slightly bitter finish.

Keg at Bishops Arms Hamngatan, Gothenburg. Hazy pale golden, small head. Clumsy cardboard nose. Sweet, medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Fairly low bitterness. Useless junk.

This is a good, inoffensive pale ale. There is a hint of caramel in the aroma. Itís got a smooth finish, with a mildly bitter aftertaste. It has a grainy taste.

Draft at Sprengerís. Bright deep gold, smallish white head. Pleasant sweet tea scent at a very low level. Flavor starts promisingly, bringing coolly balanced warm malts and herbal goodnesses, but nothing to focus on, and an unfortunate swampy bit cropped up early and I canít shake it. Medium body and a slightly salty finish.

One of my favorite. None of the notes are over-powering. Itís a nice blending and good balance of the ingredients. Not too hoppy, not too fruity or spicy. Served best in a frosty mug at 34degrees.

Poured a deep gold/amber with a light head and lacing. Aroma was of piney and citrusy hops. Taste was similar - piney and citrus (grapefruit) w/ a decent malt background. Mouth was pretty good - nice density. Overall, a decent pale ale.

Twelve ounce bottle from Widmer Brothers/Red Hook/Kona variety summer 12 pack purchased at Western Hills Kroger, tasted on September 21, 2013. Moderate amber color with good clarity, bittersweet aroma with interesting tropical/pineapple notes, medium flavor heavy on the fruit, hops come in at the end. This beer is OK but I hardly think any mysterious alchemy is responsible for its creation--if the commercial description was part of my rating, the score would be much lower.
