I have a pretty high standard for this style because itís one of my favorite session beers. Before a brewery has their chewy double IPA or their thick barreled stout there should come a deliciously drinkable pale, weather it be English or American in style. Widmer has done a few but Alchemy is the latest and greatest? Replacing Drifter Pale, unfortunately Alchemy is a mere glimpse upon what this style can be. What frustrates me here is the base aroma and flavors are there but only watered down and fall terribly flat in the finish. Iíve grown to like a Widmer beer here and there but most of them come off watered down and almost soulless. Sorry Wid bros, I bought three six packs this summer and my tastes buds are still not convinced. For some reason Iím still fortunate to drink a fresh, beautifully colored beer even though it washes down like water, could it be the incredibly low price point and shiny packaging?

Pours golden. Citrus aromas and a very upfront passion fruit taste. Lengthy taste that lingers. Not too bad at all. A smooth ale that is nice on a late summer night

Tap, clear yet deep gold/amber with a medium white head and heavy lacing. Aroma was extremely fruity. Lively carbonation with a light body, taste was medium bitter and a pleasant light/medium sweetness. Overall, a perfect way to finish an evening of beer tasting; a strong finish!

Pretty good beer, but I am biased toward APAís. There are some grapefruit and floral notes on the nose. Very little head on the pour. Pale to medium amber in color. Very good flavor, but light enough to have a few in a session. This beer is also very light on the palate. Iím a fan, but it definitely leaves me wanting more.

Pours a clear golden/orange color with a medium white head. Aroma has light fruitiness...citrusy orange and passionfruit...a bit of an orange tea note and a mild spice i cant place. Flavor has lots of fruity hoppiness with pine and resin creeping in...underlying caramel and something akin to chamomile or vanilla. Mouthfeel is light and the fi ish is dry and earthy/piney bitter. Given reviews, it seems like this one may not be consistent but I think I had a good batch and it was enjoyable.

Not so great out of the gate. Very strong aroma. Very bitter at first but then levels out to actually a really good taste. Very tasty with a Menthol ecig. Not one of my favorites but would purchase again.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home listening to Simon & Garfunkel. Clear amber colour thin lasting off white head. Slightly oxidised aroma. Some toffee, some very harsh, metallic hop flavour. Some hop. Itís fine, Just a little metallic and may be a touch oxidised from the journey across the pond. Some decent orange fruit. Fine.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2014 Spicy (spices), caramel flavors. Flat carbonation. Mostly malt and caramel flavors. Dry finish...Nothing worth seeking out again....2nd rating, off tap wob cap hill. Dry and silky, slightly thin beginning. Vanilla and caramel. Nicely Hopped pale ale. Better than my first experience.
