Haven’t had this in a long time. Really good summer BBQ beer. Light and a little thin make it really sessionable. Slight coffee and nutty taste to it. Pretty brown color too.

Draft at the brewpub. Clear amber, white head. Aroma of caramel malt. Taste of caramel with a smoky edge. Exactly on style.

Pours a dark coppery amber with a fairly thick off-white head. Aroma is strong and malty with fruity and hoppy hints. Flavor is quite robust, mainly malty with a fruity undertone and nutty and hoppy touches. Texture is quite fizzy and lively, leaving behind a nice tingle.

[2939-20100625] Sample. Fragrant alcoholic floral aroma. Clear, amber body with a quick foamy white head. Boozy little nail polish flavour with toasted yeast and a long toasty aftertaste. Medium body. Interesting.

2010-06-25. Dark amber body, modest beige head. Flavour is pretty grainy, light bitterness, light astringency in the finish. Mild aroma, lightly toasty malt, hints at caramel. Average palate. Meh, bit dull. On Tap as Brewmaster’s Choice Alt at Widmer Gasthaus, Portland.

Widmer’s first beer and best. This should be their flagship, not the Hefe. Wonderfully balanced beer with a wonderful matl backbone and hint of hoppy bitterness to dry the finish. Wish it was available year-round.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark orangey amber with an off-white head. Has a nice medium palate with good nuttiness. Semi-sweet, great lacing in the glass. A pretty good beer.

Tap @ their Gasthaus Pub... Poured amber-red with an off-white head. Faint malty aroma with light fruit. Palate was dry with lots of carbonation. Caramel malt and fruit notes which lent to a cracker/biscuit and metallic tone before some hops came through in the finish.
