3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ibrew2or3 (4896) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2012
12oz bottle pours slightly hazy copper to gold with thin white head. The aroma offers up floral hops, a bit of soapy notes, a touch of grapefruit and faint stale earthiness in the background. It tastes a bit beyond fresh so I’ll try to capture less or score what this likely is like fresh. I get nice near chewy grapefruit, spicy and floral hops all sort of mixing together and seemingly leaning much more toward bitter hoppiness rather than flavor hops.

(Bottle) Pours golden. The aroma holds clear hop tones of black currant and tangerines alongside a toasted malt note. Light fruity. The flavour is mild citric with some black currant to back it up. Toasted malt backbone. The mouthfeel is quite soft with a medium carbonation. Light to medium bodied.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 keepersj12 (1806) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Average for the style. Not a lot of aroma. Mostly citrus with bread. The flavor is a bit bland. Citrus with a bit of malt. Nothing stands out though. Well balanced and quite easy to drink.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rougeau13 (1211) - Texas, USA - OCT 11, 2011
Clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of pine and caramel malt. Taste is somewhat thin malt and pine hops. It’s a bit off-balanced, not that it’s astoundingly bitter, but it just doesn’t blend. Medium-thin body. Bitter finish. One dimensional.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PorterPounder (4093) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUL 26, 2011
Denver, Co. - Tower Liquors - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, fluffy white head, sticky lacing. Floral aroma with some spruce accents. Flavor has a nice subtle bitterness to it with some muted citrus. light caramel. a bit of nuttiness and just a hint of mint. Mouthfeel is full and just a bit harsh. All in all, a solid IPA.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cybercat (1886) - Georgia, USA - JUN 29, 2011
Aroma is SERIOUSLY hoppy - if you love hoppy beers, this one is for you! It pours an average clear golden, but this is the beer’s weakest point. Flavor is very hoppy and evergreen, yet only minimally bitter, with just a touch of sour citrus. Texture is rough and fizzy, and finish is tingly and hoppy.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BobbyAnalog (207) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 30, 2011
Who gave this IPA a lobotomy? All of the rabid bite that India Pale Ales generally muster up is nowhere to be found. Instead of the shark teeth that this genre of beer feels free to flash on your tongue, Broken Halo behaves like a new recruit in beer training camp. The pine accents are neutered; the smell is virtually nondescript; the valve of hoppiness has been turned off. Oh Widmer, say it ain’t so!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 onceblind (1607) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 30, 2011
Clear medium gold color, nice lingering head. IPA-rific aroma full of grapefruit citrus, a bit of orange, some floral hops, and a heaping ton of toffee and biscuity aromas. Texture is smooth yet tingly--perfect. Flavor is super balanced. There is a lot of grapefruit and orange citrus backed up with some floral hop tones, but it’s all side-by-side with a bunch of toffee and biscuit malt tones. Very balanced, and not terribly bitter. In fact, if the bottle didn’t say "IPA", I’d have guessed it was a Pale Ale. I’ve had bitterer pale ales than this one. But Pale or IPA, this is dang good. Worth another buy indeed.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kev1001 (67) - Montana, USA - MAY 9, 2011
Bottle. Pours orange/copper. The taste is crisp and hoppy but would like more bitter grapefruit/pine. Average yet lost among the multitude of IPAs.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 RobertDale (965) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - MAY 7, 2011
12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear orange gold with an average white head. Aroma of pine, florals and citrus. Taste is on the bitter side, but not extreme. The citrus and malt come through. Very good.
