COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale. malts: PALE, CARAMEL 10L & 20L,carapils hops: ALCHEMY, CASCADE, zeus

Bottle: Orange huded golden, translucent, light carbonation, moderate rocky white head, spotty lacing.   Soft hop aroma, much like steeped hops.   Somewhat grainy malt tinges as well.   Mild grainy cardboard immediately up front.   Light sweetness, subtle hop bitterness follows.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Cereal like finish, malty, but in the grainy sense.   Subtle notes of pine and hops.   Tiz okay, but another fairly average release in my opinion.   I’d take the NW Red over this any day.

Hazy dark orange body with dense white head. Complex hop aromas with hints of grass and pine. Smooth balance of malt and hop flavor. Nice bitter finish.

A great Imperial IPA. The flavor did not kick you so hard you did not want another. The color and head where awesome. The aroma was also very good. I loved the complexity of the flavors and the malts. A great beer Good Job Widmer.

This is a really decent IPA from a brewry that I am not a big fan of, so this was a pleasant surprise. Has a great crisp bitterness, with some sweet fruity hop esters and a very warm malt character to back it all up. A very easy to drink IPA

Another new release IPA for the week. Oh Boy!! A very nice orange hue with great brilliance. Nice head with very pleasant hop nose. Hints of tangerine, grapfuit and some pine. Nice floral notes throughout the entire sampling. Pleasant malt balance with a slight sweetness in the finish to wash away the bitterness. Moderate alcohol level for IPA. A very quaffable IPA that I imagine enjoying year round now. A nice beer from the Widmer Bros!

Yet another new IPA surelly a sign Spring is here at last!. Light, bright orange beer in appearance, with a handsome frothy/thick off white head. Light piney hop aromas dominate, slight spicieness but very weak and subdued. After the aroma the taste was a surprise, very hoppy and "tangy" on the first sip quite bitter, it begins to calm down near the end and in subsequent mouthfuls..begiuns to get a little too sweet in fact. Quite a nice mouthfeel, not bad. Not a really bad IPA but it plaes in comparison to Deschutes new release.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2006 Tap at Horsebrass. Medium golden colored and clear. Nice compact white head with good lacing. Aroma is a bit weak. Touches of floral hop fleet about, nothing definite. Light to medium bodied, feels a bit weak/watery. Balanced but hop bitterness and flavor is weak for a PNW IPA. Some stale (for lack of a better descriptor) notes in aroma when swirled. Fair, a bit disappointing. Bottled version is much the same and a touch undercarbonated.
