4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 29, 2009 Very surprised this one rates so low. I’m usually disappointed when I go out on a limb and try somethig new, but not this time. Very nice balanced IPA (I usually drink Stone exclusively) with a very nice grassy, hoppy kick and not too much malt. This one’s a pleasant surprise, and one I’m going sample regularly from here on due to the moderate 6% ABV and reasonable price - $7.99/6 vs. $9.99/6 for Stone.
I’ve since re-rated this one. The only kick I have against this one at all is that it’s a little weak in the knees at 6.0% for an IPA. For all other factors, I think this might be the best I’ve tried so far.
This is a FANTASTIC beer, and is ESPECIALLY well balanced for an IPA!

This is a pretty decent IPA. Lots of citrus and grapefruit, but it is remarkably balanced and sessionable.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is not a very hoppy IPA for a British styled IPA. It’s a hazy golden beer with a bubbly white head. The aroma is weak and citrusy, not a lot maltiness. The flavour is weakly grapefruity, but not as strong as traditional British IPAs

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange copper, foamy, lasting off white head. Citrus, orange, zest. Flavour is orange sweetness followed by grapefruit bitterness. Medium bodied, slightly fizzy carbonation. Nicely balanced finish.very pleasant.

Not a bad IPA. Full, citrus-y flavor with a sweet aroma. Aftertaste is quite pleasant.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a 2 finger white head that settles down to some spotted lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and cereal grains with hints of caramel. Taste is a grapefruit hop bitterness which is not too overwhelming with a nice caramel malty sweet backbone. Light to medium body with decent carbonation leaving a nice tickle on the tongue with a nice clean finish. This is a nicely done IPA, but there are better ones available.

Bottled sample from happy Harry's. Another great beer from Widmer. Lots of hops. Great floral smell. Loved it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle pours slightly hazy copper to gold with thin white head. The aroma offers up floral hops, a bit of soapy notes, a touch of grapefruit and faint stale earthiness in the background. It tastes a bit beyond fresh so I’ll try to capture less or score what this likely is like fresh. I get nice near chewy grapefruit, spicy and floral hops all sort of mixing together and seemingly leaning much more toward bitter hoppiness rather than flavor hops.
